Walt Disney is most famously known for his character Mickey Mouse, which appears first in Steamboat Willie, in 1928. It was the first Disney cartoon to be produced with synchronized sound. From this, an empire was created. The Walt Disney Company still produces cartoons to this day, but how did we get to the movies children watch today, such as Toy Story, Monsters Inc, and Frozen?

The organization has 5 other theme parks outside of the USA: Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo DisneySea, Disneyland Paris, Hong Kong Disneyland and Walt Disney Studios (Leibacher, 2017). Anytime a company pursue to expand globally, the company should expect some form of challenges. Global expansion for any organization can be challenging. Walt Disney through its global expansion encountered its share of issue. Economic, legal, political, social and cultural barriers were challenges Walt Disney encountered through its global expansion (Ferrell, Hirt, & Ferrell, 2009).

Toys, books, movies, CDs, clothing, and endless products that feature Disney characters can be found in most physical and online stores. Furthermore, Disney keeps its characters alive with theme parks and resorts found throughout the world. Disney also owns hundreds of radio stations and several TV networks. There is no doubt that the company has grown into an industry, and it is an industry that owes its accomplishments to the image it has built over the decades.
