Imagine sitting at the dinner table with your family. Everyone around the table is talking about how their day has been. All of a sudden the family gets to the last person at the table and it is their turn to answer, but they do not know what the family has been talking about. As everyone looks to them for their response to the question, their face goes blank. Everyone then realizes that this member of the family had been looking down at their phone this whole time. Them being on the phone not only is disrespectful, but it also makes the presence of all those whom are at the table seem irrelevant. As of lately this feeling of being distracted or not knowing what is going on has been happening to kids who are extremely young. Instead of …show more content…
Also being able to talk over the phone gives most people feeling of courage, which helps them to feel more comfortable to say what they feel (Jin). It also gives everyone access to information that most of the time would not be possible to access without these devices. We can even see the lives of other people through their social media accounts and we can speak to them through them also. These accounts help them share and possibly even promote some of the things they stand for or believe in. Social media is even used to notify us when events are coming up that we might want to take place in. Apps are another considerably great use of cellular devices, because nowadays apps are used for everything.(Park) Whether it be an app to distract kids, or even an app that helps people identify every star. Apps helps us to pass time when we are bored or to work more efficiently when needed. It just depends which apps we use, and at what times to achieve the most effective output of work. Although I should know better by now, I cannot help thinking that phones only help us grow by allowing us to have access to infinite sources that help us to educate ourselves. For instance, We are able to search up any question we could have with google. Or if we would like to learn how to do something we could look it up on youtube. Another example is for dating. Many people use dating sites currently to find the perfect
Cell phones bring people together. “The idea behind Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram is to make us feel connected all the time” (Document 1). Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram can help us keep in touch with our friends (Document 1). Facebook connects more of us to more of our friends and family in more places than we have ever been connected before. (Document 1). Along with this I can say that cell phones are a useful tool.
Mobile phones have improved a lot since it was first introduced and now nearly everyone owns a mobile phone. It keeps you connected with friends, family and co-workers. This is very good in case of an emergency you can quickly contact someone for help and keeps you safe. A mobile phone is packed with so much technology such as a music player, digital camera and even a GPS.
Cellphones are most common in society. The ease of access allows us to have the world at our fingertips 24 hours a day and we never have to unplug. We can surf the web, book a flight, check the weather, and message a friend 1000 miles away without leaving our bed.
With applications and browsers like “Google” and “Yahoo”, you get a wealth of knowledge with just the touch of a button. This is very beneficial for people like students, who no longer need to carry around heavy textbooks. Students can search the internet for the information that they need. Ease of access to this abundance of information is also a huge asset of having a cell phone. If you have a burning question that you need the answer to right away, you can look it up on the internet. Before cell phones you would have had to go to the library or find an encyclopedia to find the
Being able to browse internet easily gives us more opportunities to be smarter (Doc.6). Communication is connection with other humans which one needs to live and just because someone lives far away from loved ones doesn't mean they shouldn't get that connection. While people may think that smartphones are a self absorbed waste of time, they actually bring family and friends together and bring information to you efficiently.
Cell phones are beneficial in so many ways. Using the calculator off a phone can be beneficial in math class. If you have a math problem like 90 x 67, you can type it into the calculator and get the answer. In reading class, you can look up the definitions online. If you have a word like flabbergasted, the online dictionary might tell you that it means to be surprised. You can also visit educational sites like, Discovery.com, Moby max, IXL, and some educational games sites like Kahoot and Sum dog. Phones are good tools to find research. If a student had a project on Thomas Jefferson and all the class computers were taken, they could get on
Cell phones allows people to not have face to face conversations. When talking on the phone, only the voice can be heard. The facial expression and body language of the person talking cannot be seen through a cell phone. Not being able to read body language is a problem when socializing because an individual might not know what other people are trying to say to him or her. Some conversations need to be handle face to face not on the phone. For example, one day my friend Reyna was talking, or should I say yelling, with her boyfriend on the phone. Reyna could have had this conversation face to face with her boyfriend. Texting has also contributed to social isolation. Texting isolates a person even more because not only can the person not be seen, the voice of the other person cannot be heard. People want to do everything trough a cell phone, but there is stuff that needs to be handle face to
Everyone wants to stay connected in each others lives by never missing a beat. More like never missing a text message in this day and age. Life is constantly finding its way to become full of responsibilities with little time to take a break as it is. Texting my family and friends is easier to respond to when I 'm taking care of my daughter and studying for school. Even a phone call seems better so I can multitask, cleaning the house or driving while talking on the phone. Communication is an essential key and important human need. By using technology, there is a deeper connection to communicating than some acknowledge.
The main need it fulfills is instant communication. Whether it be a phone call, a text message, or even video chat, telephones have the ability to let the user communicate with anyone around the world instantaneously, which is an amazing feature. Telephones are also able to fulfill the need for entertainment. When using smartphones, consumers have the option to listen to music, play games, watch movies/TV shows, and access social media. Sine phones are able to provide the consumer with all these different types of entertainment, it eliminates the need for consumers to have multiple sources of entertainment, because all these forms of entertainment are on a phone (i.e no need for an iPod to listen to music to, because you can download music onto your phone). Another need a phone can fulfill, is the need for a camera. Instead of carrying a bulky camera wherever you go, consumers can just bring their mobile phone with them, and take pictures and videos. This is very convenient because it reduces the amount of items you need to carry with you. It also eliminates the process of downloading your pictures onto a computer to view them, because instead you can view them right on the spot. The phone also fulfills the need for an alarm clock, a map, a compass and a calculator. It also is able to keep track of your health, gives you current news updates, and you are able to keep track of different stocks. These features
In Jack London’s classic story, “To Build a Fire” the main character learns an important value on pride and arrogance. Unluckily, he learned this lesson by losing his life. His pride and arrogance led him to arctic conditions that limited him from building a fire resulting in his death. Had he listened to the wise man and to others, by not traveling out into the deathly conditions, he could’ve survived.
The smart phone has become more than that of just an accessory only to be seen among the rich and wealthy it has become a social standard were ones personality can be understood by one’s phone. The smart phone can access the web from almost any location and there special phone that are used only for social media. Speaking of social media the ability for one to communicate with a far away relative was never more of a dream until recently. Well it was just in the late 90s when phone were the size of dinosaurs, extremely expensive and the only thing they could do was call. Now they are smaller than the computers back, ten times stronger and at a quarter of their size. It is safe to say that phones are going to be as common as
Rather than dwell on how much technology, and cell phones in particular, have destroyed our society and individuals, we should start to look at the benefits of cell phones.
Cell phones are good because they can help teach and can help people learn. The article "Teenagers and New Technology" has a section where a teenager said that technology helps him as a learner and is helping him pursue his career. According to ED.gov more than half of U.S. schools now use some form of technology to teach or learn. Educators see technology as exciting new ways of connecting with students. My school and most schools I know of use technology and cell phones to learn and teach. That is why cell phones and technology can help people teach and
“Cell phones cannot help people learn! Cell phones only make children dumber. Children and adults alike are not really learning when they search for answers on the internet.” These are phrases that are most commonly used by opponents of the rapidly adjusting modern society we live in today. However, cell phones and social media are an attribute to society in many ways.
First of all, Mobile phones are a learning tool. Beside teachers who are teaching students in classroom with math, science and
