Animals are used as “models” for human disease, biomedical research, behavioral research, agricultural research, product development, drug testing and science education. In Professor Elizabeth Fisher’s article, “Why We Should Accept Animal Testing” she explains how we should be for animal testing and start getting used to the idea considering we found mass breakthroughs while using animals. NEAVS is an association in which they are trying to stop research using animals and are trying to find an improved way than unjust and cruel use in experiments. Their article,”Animals and Research Testing” they explain all the reasons why it should not be considered an option. There are times animal testing is not so accurate and works on animals, but on
In the 21st century I would get rid of animal testing .Animal research has had a vital role in many scientific and medical advances of the past century and continues to aid our understanding of various diseases throughout the world.
Protesting has been going around the world for many of years. Throughout many years of people boycotted agents a situation they believe, if a wrong or right. One of the biggest areas on where people gather around and protest is when they’re fighting agents animals testing. As well as the years has pasted on protesting on animals, it became more sires in increased in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Many cosmetics companies been testing on animals throughout the years there is also many that have not. The cosmetics line LUSH has been fighting over animals testing for over thirty years and will continue to fight for their right according to the company. When LUSH had first started the company had divided they didn 't ever wanted to test their product on animal. Not only fighting agents animals testing LUSH is also ego friendly; everything they use its plants, oil, and recycle. Since LUSH having to be agents animal testing, policies had created to work with the companies of cosmetics to end the cruelty of animals. The LUSH company say “ This can be done without animal testing …” and it true. LUSH is a company that all there product dills with ones skin to make them fell and look beautiful. If LUSH can test their products other than animals and still make your still looking good then, other cosmetics companies can do the same.
There has been a lot of animal testing in the United States and thousands of animals already have been killed. In research and testing, animals are subjected to experiments that can include everything from testing new drugs, poisoning for toxicity testing, burning skin, causing brain damage, implanting electrodes into the brain, maiming, blinding, and other painful and invasive procedures. Animal testing should not be allowed to proceed because millions of animals are getting killed, the results aren't always right, and it is more expensive to test it on animals.
For many years, the field of science has used animals in medical experiments worldwide, because of this innocent animals are being killed everyday. They are being tested with new drugs, new treatments, and by many makeup companies. Connecticut recently celebrated the passage of the “Beagle Freedom Law”, a law that requires laboratories to work with charities and rescue groups to find homes for research cats and dogs. Animals are being tested so humans do not have to be but animal tests do not reliably predict results in human beings, although animals are the closest thing to humans. Most experiments involving animals are flawed, wasting the lives of innocent animal subjects. Over 100 million animals suffer a year from testing. Testing animals is a lot more expensive than alternative methods and it is wasting government research dollars. Animal testing is not only a bad idea, but it is also inhuman and it should not be tolerated. The FDA should stop allowing animal testing. An animal does not give out the same results on a test than a human would.
” Today, more animals are being used in experiments than ever before: around 100 million in the United States alone” (3). Animal testing is now an international issue, and it is becoming a major story. Currently, animals are often used in medical testing, make-up testing, and other consumer product testing. Animals used in such product testing are often abused and suffer from serious side-effects. Animal testing can be painful for the animals, testing results are usually not even useable for humans, and there are other testing methods available. Consequently, animals should not be used for any make-up products or medical testing.
The testing of animals in scientific and commercial research has been debated for many years. Some people view animals as companions or part of the family, but others think of them as a way to advance medicine by providing researchers with a means to develop better medical techniques, discovering vaccines, and helping to find a cure for a disease. Regardless of how a person may view animals, they are worthy of better protection by our government and us as a society. Although some animal testing has been successful, there are research alternatives that could eliminate the pain, suffering, and deaths that animals endure in scientific research. Therefore, animals should not be used in scientific research
Experimentation of animals may be horrible. But if they do continue the experimentation of animals than that would have evermore excellent results. First, It means that they do not have to test the experiments on themselves. Second, it goes against the laws of science to test it on humans first. And third, It is easier to test and observe the reaction of a mouse or smaller creature than it is to see on a human. And so for these reasons they should continue the experimentation of animals before humans.
In the early nineteenth century, animal experiments emerged as an important method of science and marked the birth of experimental physiology and neuroscience as we know it today. It has since become an issue of intense public controversy. Many individuals against animal experimentation claim that animals undoubtedly merit the same amount of consideration and respect as humans and should be treated on the basis of the principles of equality. However, there is significant evidence to suggest that there are some circumstances where it is justifiable to use animals in experimentations. The following paper will briefly identify the animal rights proponents which assert that sentience is morally relevant and that animals and humans should be
Animal testing is using non-human animals to be test subjects in an experiment. Scientist use animals to try and help find cures for different diseases and cancers in humans. People are against animal testing because everyday animals are dying in a science lab. The laboratory is a cruel place for a innocent animal. The world should be against animal testing because, Animals are different from humans, it can be wasteful if the experiment does not work, alternatives can be used instead of animals and it is extremely inhumane
Successful brands such as Jeffree Star cosmetics are strictly animal testing free and extremely vegan which results his brand to be the most successful in the industry. There are many makeup brands that do support animal testing. Animal testing should not be allowed because many animals are taken advantage of.
Every drug, medication, and treatment available at the pharmacy have one thing in common-- animal testing. Over the years there have been life saving results from animal testing. However, the process of testing substances on animals should not be continued. While some believe there is not another alternative to animal testing, it should not continue because it is harmful to the animals and not all test results are positive.
The first cases of animal testing happened in the ancient times to satisfy a curiosity for anatomy and to obtain knowledge. Back in these days a researcher would cut open an awake animal before a crowd. Belgian Andreas Vesalius and his students in Padua, Italy demonstrated public lectures on anatomy. “An animal, usually a dog, would be cut open while still alive and the function of each organ would be speculated upon as it was located” (Monamy 9). Today animals are used as a way to test new and unknown medications on a living organism. But even then, one such physician stated that he would rather use a pig as his subject because he wanted to, “avoid seeing the unpleasant expression of an ape” (Monamy 9). The ethics of animal testing has always been questioned. Humans do not want to think of animals as on the same level of us. Animal testing is helping save people’s lives, but what about the animals lives that are taken to achieve success. The similarity between humans and animals is terrifying and makes the cruelty obvious. In the 16 century it was recorded that early scientists who performed experiments and operations on live animals, did not consider animals to be equal to humans and barely cared for them. Relado Colombo is a good example of this kind of scientist. He was known for performing live lectures on pregnant dogs. “Maehle and Trohler said that he would take the young fetuses from the mother and harm them in front of her. Being a mother, she would bark furiously
Did you know that more than 100 million animals are abused and killed every year in labs all around the world? Animals are used every day to test products and treatments for humans. For years humans have been using animals for testing. These animals are hurt in many different ways, including inhalation of toxic fumes, force-feeding pesticides, and dripping corrosive chemicals into sensitive eyes. Animal testing should be made illegal because animal testing is cruel, there are better ways to test products, and animals’ bodies differ from ours.
Imagine yourself trapped in a cage, engulfed by darkness, the feeling of dread the only thing standing by your side. Every day you tremble in fear of what new twist those lab coats have in store for you. You lost your faith that you will be saved long ago and that your destiny is to die in this forsaken cage. This is what animals used for experimentation go through on almost daily. Throughout the last few centuries, millions of animals have undergone many cruel and stress inducing tests and experiments. Nowadays, many studies show that using animals for testing is unnecessary and that scientists should not have any real need for it. In this paper, I will show how the use of animals in labs is unnecessary by explaining the history of experimentation,
Medicine has come a long way since 2750 BC when Egyptians performed basic forms of surgery. Every day there are new medical discoveries and much better understanding of the potential medicine has, thanks to animal experimentation, testing and researching. Both live and deceased animals are used for commercial or scientific research or educational purposes in a range of capacities. Usually, this is for medical, veterinary and environmental research. Although, millions of animals have suffered and been burned, poisoned, crippled, and even killed for the sake of humanity and medical advancements. (“Eleven Facts”). For example, researchers conduct “stress experiments” on rats and mice
