Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890) though he lived more than 120 years ago his art work is still being spoken about and admired, today. Van Gogh inspired many artists including Gauguin, Pissarro, Monet, and Bernard. This contributed to the world of art and inspired other artists.. One of Van Gohs most famous painting was Starry Night.
Vincent van Gogh is one of the world’s most well-known artists. He was the son of a pastor and was brought up in a religious atmosphere. He thought his true calling was to preach the gospel like his father. He became a preacher in a small coal mining town. This is when he starting becoming very interested in the people and things that surrounded him. He became an artist at the age of 27.
Vincent Van Gogh is one of the most famous painters of all time. His style was post-impressionism. He was a Dutch man, born in an averaged sized town called Groot-Zundert, Netherlands. The reason he became an artist, and the thing that influenced him the most to become an artist was actually his mother. His mother was interested in nature, she did a lot of drawing and watercolors and that really influenced her son heavily and got him into art. When he was fifteen years old, his family was really struggling with their finances. Because of this, he was forced to get a job and help them provide. It ended up that his uncle owned an art dealership, so he got a job there.

On March 30, 1853 Vincent was born to minister Theodorus Van Gogh and Anna Cornelia Carbentus. He was born in Zundert, Netherlands. Vincent was named after his stillborn brother that had been born exactly a year before Vincent. The name Vincent was actually very common in the Van Gogh family. Vincent shared his name with his uncle and grandfather. He also shared the name with his great great uncle, the sculptor Vincent Van Gogh (1728-1802).

Van Gogh was considered a very dark artist. Most of his work was quite depressing to look at so people didn’t like his art until a later time when he started traveling more and started making bright pastel and colorful pieces. That was the first time he was noticed.

Van Gogh would be known as a troublesome boy who kept to himself and went on long walks through the country side. Before his death Van Gogh attempted to take his own life, failing he spent his last days with his brother. I do in fact think that this piece was a successful artwork for many reasons. First of all, it followed the principles of design perfectly as well as incorporated many elements of art quite well. Secondly, there were plenty of interesting forms and objects within the piece to capture one's attention quite quickly and keep one’s attention on the piece for at least a couple of minutes. Lastly, the piece was even featured in a full length biographical movie about the life of Vincent Van Gogh, so it was obviously important enough to be featured in front of moviegoers.
