When it comes to the stock market a lot of research must be taken place in order to fully understand what you are buying into. Before starting the course I was very nervous to what I was buying into. I did some research and I will be focusing on three solar companies. I will be focusing on First Solar Inc., SunPower Corp., and Vivint Solar Inc. Before doing research and buying into anything I thought to myself what is relevant and what would be interesting to watch rise or fall. Since I have solar panels on my roof, I thought it would be interesting to see how other solar companies do. One of the biggest challenges of the stock market is fear and risk. It is hard to try and predict when a stock is going to rise or when it is going to …show more content…
“The federal government provides a solar tax credit, known as the investment tax credit (ITC) that allow homeowners and businesses to deduct a portion of their solar costs from their taxes” (Energysage). Another incentive is tax exemptions. Some states do not include the value of solar panels systems into the value of your property. Which means your tax bill won’t be increased and you do not have to worry about any additional costs. Which can be one reason why home and business owners would want to avoid getting solar panels. The first company I will be focusing on is First Solar. It was founded in 1999 and its headquarters is in Tempe, Arizona. At first I was very nervous to buy into First Solar. On November 4, I bought 14 shares at $59.72 and on December 8, I bought 82 shares at $68.95. I have 11% holding and a value of $6,577.92. It’s high is at 68.80 and its low is at 67.43 (MarketWatch). On Monday, December 11, 2017, an analyst noticed that First Solar rose and it will continue to see long-term growth due to the advancement in technology and lower installation costs. “Baird analyst Ben Kallo raised First Solar to outperform from neutral and his price target to 82 from 69 in a research note to clients.” (Deagon, 2017). Since First solar is one of the largest U.S. solar products maker, it has risen 22% since it’s quarterly results on December 5, 2017. (Deagon, 2017). The second company I invested into is SunPower Corporation. It
For example I immediately bought Disney, Apple, and, Amazon before anything else, due to the success I knew each of these companies have had in the past. After running out of companies I knew had stock on the exchange, I started doing research on stocks I might want to purchase. This was especially necessary for mutual funds, which prior to starting the stock market game I had very little to no knowledge about. I found that in the long run, the stocks that I had the most success with were stocks that I had had some previous exposure to. Amazon especially was a great success.
The stock market has always intrigued me and I have since been eager to learn more about it. Starting back in January of this year, I ordered three textbooks on stock trading to become more informed on the subject. After reading these books, I gained further insight on stock trading which led me to open my own brokerage account where I could buy and sell stocks. I started by playing a stock simulation which was very similar in concept to StockTrak, a program we used in this class. I found that this helped provide me with a hands on experience which helped familiarize me with stock trading and learning how to manage and use my money efficiently. I continued to play this simulation for about two months and during this time my portfolio grew about 4%, which provided me a confidence boost and motivated me to invest in my real money into the stock market. In March of 2015, I officially began trading in the stock market and I continued to learn along the way. As of now, I have roughly nine months of stock trading experience. As stated previously, I have always had in interest in the stock market, but I never acted upon it until as recently as earlier this year. My interest in the stock market was peaked because I enjoy taking risks and the stock market
There are a lot of companies worth investing in around the country and the world. An investor cannot simply put his money into a company without doing some research beforehand. Using ratios, balance sheets, income sheets, and other financial information, a potential investor has a lot of resources to use to ensure a good investment is made.
For the past month we have been doing a stock market competition. The winner of that competition gets bonus marks. Going into this simulation for the first time not knowing that much about it I felt like it was going to be hard and I may not finish where I would have to liked to. But since the competition started I felt more comfortable and got the hang of it. I planned to invest in companies that I think would do good in the future. My first two investments were in Tesla and google. I invested in these companies because I felt like these two companies would make me money. The result from looking at them the day the simulation ends I believe these two stocks really helped me in trying to place in first. Some of my market moves were good
Some of the stocks that I should have bought more of was Amazon, and Wal-Mart. Even though I should have bought more of these two stock; I didn’t for one reason, because I wanted to see how the other stocks will do. These two have made the most this past month than any of the others did.
This part of the report will analyze and explain the different trading and investing strategies used for Cypress Semiconductor Corp, CyberArk Software Ltd, Google Inc, and Apple Inc.
The winnings I made from the previous night at the casino had me hooked into wanting to make more money. It became more of a need than a desire. Instead of returning to the casino, I started watching a ton of youtube videos regarding how to make quick cash. I studied these videos like it was homework. As a result from one of the videos, I found myself extremely interested in stocks. Stocks became a whole new practice for me. It wasn 't so much hitting a soft number or standing on a seventeen like you would in Blackjack. It was more than that. Stocks deal with the economy and fluctuate by the second. The Stock Market intrigued me with its visual representation, such as the graphs and lines. I just wanted to learn
Many people buy solar panels for their houses so they can use that energy. Solar panels help get energy for your house and use that energy for the lights or even to produce heat for your house. You can add immense amounts of insulation when building a new house even if cost a little bit more, it will lower the cost for heating and air conditioning
However, based on my research, this was a strong company. The stock’s price at that time was close to its lowest price of the year, thus there were chances that the stock price would not drop, but rise again. In addition, there was a stockholder meeting approaching and I believed it would probably bring some positive effects to the company’s stock value. I decided to buy 600 stocks from ARDM for approximately $3,900. I waited until after the meeting, and saw that the stock price rose. I decided to sell all my stocks and got about $4,200 in return. It was a good start and a good investment. In another trade, I bought 100 stocks from UCTT. Afterward, the news said that the company’s value fell by 19% due to soft guidance. The company blames "short term reductions in semiconductor equipment spend by several of the major chipmakers." I decided to sell all of my stocks that were from this company, losing a significant amount of money.

The stock market game was interesting to me because I never knew anything about stocks. I struggled in making trades in the beginning of the game because I didn’t understand how to properly trade nor understood how money could be earned or lost. As time went by, I started to learn how to trade more appropriately to either gain some or lose just a slight amount. I found myself constantly depending on certain stocks rather than going for a variety like others seemed to do. I would only trade one thing at a time unlike everyone else as well because that’s what I felt comfortable with. However, I realized that sometimes to gain a great amount, I have to go out of my comfort zone and just take a risk; although, I still didn’t do it. The idea of having essay pages written actually motivated and pressured me at the same time for me to play it safe. I didn’t necessarily aim for being the top three nor did I focus on having no essay pages written but rather, I wanted to have a minimal amount of pages to write and I suppose I did succeed in that goal. The first few trades that I made started off being low-priced because I was too afraid of losing money which would result in me writing more essay pages and I did not want that. I focused on one stock called VisionChina Media Inc. (VISN) because it was the lowest price that qualified for the five dollar minimum for the stock market game. At this time, I still didn’t understand how to
Next, I invested in a popular food and beverage company, PepsiCo Inc. PepsiCo is comprised of multiple consumer segments in North America such as: Frito Lay, Quaker Foods, Aunt Jemima mixes and syrups, Aunt Jemima mixes and syrups, Quaker Chewy granola bars, Cap n Crunch and Life cereals, and Rice-A-Roni side dishes. The popular beverage segment includes beverage concentrates, fountain syrups, and finished goods such as Pepsi, Gatorade, Mountain Dew, Aquafina, etc. Since PepsiCo is worldwide, it has a handful of segments that provide consumer goods to various country and serves wholesale distributors. The company was founded in 1898 and is headquartered in Purchase, New York and expanded worldwide first entering Japan an Eastern Europe in 1966 (PepsiCo). The company was established by a merger with Pepsi-Cola and Frito-Lay and continues to add more brand names to its company today. On March 22nd, 2014 the net income applicable to common shares was 1,216,000,000 this number is a slight decrease from the 1,742,000,000 net income applicable to common shares on December 28, 2013 (Yahoo Finance). Earnings this year have been good with a positive numerical percentage of 3.76%. In the past year PepsiCo has invested five billion dollars in Mexico. This five-year investment plan Focuses on Innovation and Brand
We believe it is important to capitalize on the bullish market we are currently in, but are worried this may not continue in the long run. Due to this, we chose 8 stocks that were a mix of diversified value and growth stocks.
The whole idea of this project is to instruct us, the students, on how to buy and sell stocks in the stock market, more specifically the New York Stock Exchange. I am writing this information to the reader because by the end of this project the reader will have the knowledge in order to be successful in the stock market. The reader will learn about the three stocks I have done research on. For this project I have invested $2000 into three companies and then followed them. All three companies are on the New York Stock Exchange, I followed them from October 17 to November 11. These companies are PepsiCo aka (PEP), Walt Disney Company aka (DIS) and Delta Air Lines aka (DAL). I purchased 18 shares of PepsiCo stock for $2000, 21 shares from Walt Disney Company for $2000, and 49 shares from Delta Air Lines for $2000. The price for one share of PepsiCo, stock was $106.83 on the 14th of October, for one share of Walt Disney Company it was $91.30 and the price for one share of Delta Air Lines was $40.04 all on October 14. I chose PEP because I drink Pepsi soda and I thought it would be pretty interesting to research the company that I love to drink and follow their stocks for a month. This company just doesn’t sell your favorite soft drink, they also sell snack food and everybody loves both of these things. Plus PepsiCo is known and sold worldwide so I know
Maybe if they did a payment schedule on buying them rather than leasing it would attract even more people. Solar panels take up a lot of space but they don’t need to. You can put PV on your roof, the roof of your business, garages, covered bridges and tunnels. If you decided not to do any of these the entire U.S. could be powered by using 4/10 of one percent of U.S. land (http://www.geokingsolar.com/faq_pv.html#Q50). This is mainly because the technology has improved so much. There is still the issue of places that don’t get a lot of sunlight, such as Alaska where it is dark half of the year. I’m sure in the years to come we will find a way to either use our existing power lines or create new ones to allow us to power areas that get less light with those that get more sunlight.
