When they decided to elect him as president he was currently the leader of the Continental Army. The congress saw that he had the potential of being the leader of the country.He reluctantly accepted Congress’s decision. This president was George Washington. President George Washington was the best leader because in their early life they grew up with so little education yet he became very smart, in his presidency he was a great leader and lead our country well and also commanded the Continental Army at the same time. legacy was that he left serving two terms as a tradition. His father who was Augustine Washington owned the land where they lived on. He grew tobacco, built mills, and owned slaves for a living. His mother Mary Ball worked as a house mom. She was a widow with two children. George Washington studied at Appleby School in Northeast England. He was married right after he resigned in office to Martha Dandridge. They got married on January 6, 1759. They both did not have any children together or with anyone else. George Washington’s military career began in the Virginia Militia and he later became a planter and a soldier. (Mountvernon. org) George Washington had two terms of office. The two of the terms were served back to back and the dates were April 30, 1789-March 3, 1797. George Washington’s political party affiliation where the Federalists. George Washington’s Vice President was John Adams. John Adams was the runner up that was voted by the Congress. George Washington and John Adams did not sign up for office but were chosen by the Congress.
