What We Eat: How Do Panthers Get Their Food?

Mr. BABIN. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to congratulate the Liberty Lady Panther Softball Team for winning the 2018 Texas University Interscholastic League (UIL) 4A High School Softball State Championship! This is the first championship for girl’s athletics at Liberty High School.

The Fossa is the largest carnivore and top predator native to Madagascar. Fossas feed on lemurs and almost any other creature it can find. These creatures have a similar appearances and behaviors as animals in the feline family. Fossas have retractable claws and catlike teeth to help it capture its food when stalking in the trees or on the ground, weather it be day or night.

In Carolina’s two games this postseason, the Panthers have jumped out to huge leads. Leading 31-0 against the Seattle Seahawks in the Divisional Round and 24-7 against the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Championship Game at halftime of both games, the Panthers have become accustomed to front-running. Carolina has been a front-running team all year, scoring early and often en route to a league-high 15 wins. If the Panthers can get out to a big early lead against the Broncos, Denver’s offense doesn’t seem equipped to make a big comeback. The Black Panthers favored aggression, violent self defense of minority communities against the U.S government. The Panthers saw that Martin Luther King’s non-violence was not successful. The party fought to engage in a political revolution for socialism by organized and community based programs. The party agenda was to promote political equality across gender and color. They were active in the United States from 1966 until 1982. The Black Panther Party patrol black neighborhoods to keep track of police activities and protect the residents from police brutality.

The Florida panther is becoming close to extinction. The Florida panther is a subspecies of the cougar that lives in forests and swamps in southwest Florida. They primarily eat white-tailed deer, rabbits, birds and other small animals. Panthers are mostly active between dawn and dusk. Kittens rarely survive that’s why the panther is endangered and becoming close to extinction. The alert level for this issue is a high alert level for these animals because as the years go on the panther population is getting lower.

People do not realize this but there are several panthers killed from car accidents. While panthers are large animals, they are hard to see. This is part of the reason why so many of them are killed by cars. Studies show that in 2012 seventeen panthers died due to “vehicular trauma” (Allen, pg. 11). The Florida Panther is currently an endangered species of cougar that resides in the southern forests and swamps of Florida. While it is a species of the cougar, it is identified as a panther to be able to clearly distinguish between the other southernmost species of cougar in the United States. The Florida Panther is a carnivore with a diet based on the animals native to their region such as deer, wild hogs, and other small game like rabbits or raccoons. Normally they are solitary animals, their homes range from 75-150 square miles of terrain, and while some homes may overlap it will not be by a lot. This overlap normally comes from females, for mating reasons but due to them being solitary, they are extremely aggressive towards other males

According to Bobby Seale, Co-founder of the Black Panther Party, “Lies and misinterpretation perpetuated a violent image of the Black Panther Party that tells only half of the story” (The Oklahoman, 1). Because of the lack of information that is taught to the youth and the uneducated, it is easy to keep the violent portrayal alive. Many of the Black Panther critics use the carrying of guns, 1960’s shootouts, and the appraisal of Malcolm X to diminish the Black Panthers. Some raptors are acrobats and blur through dangerous tree lines and brush to catch prey with its agility and speed. Others take a less energy consuming route by soaring high above plains and grasslands and only take advance towards prey with large talons and its eyesight that is to be marveled at.
