What is Sciatica?
Sciatica is defined as an inflammation of the sciatic nerve. If you have ever suffered from the pain of pressure on the sciatic nerve, you know how excruciatingly painful it can be. It may manifest as a burning or tingling feeling followed by numbness. Sciatica does not just go away on its own. You must discover why the pain is there and how to relieve the condition that caused it. Sciatic pain can be treated with massage combined with stretching exercises to keep the area of the sciatic nerve from being compressed. What causes sciatic pain?

The benefits include relieving muscle spasms and increased oxygen flow to the muscles. Massage will also relax the other muscle groups and keep the muscles stretched to prevent contracture. When the muscles are not stretched regularly they can shrink and tighten up. Use massage therapy to supplement other treatments such as chiropractic and medical care. Get plenty of restful sleep to help the body repair itself.
Butt massage techniques:
1. Have the person you are doing the massage for lie down on their stomach. Have a moist, hot towel on hand to relax the muscles in the buttocks area. You can wet the towel and wring it out, then place it inside of another towel so it does not burn the skin. Lay the towel on the area between the lower back and top of the buttocks. Let the person relax for 10 minutes before starting to massage.
2. Once the person is relaxed you can gently massage the area in a circular motion using gentle pressure. Concentrate on the top of the lower back and moving downward to the buttocks and upper thigh area.
3. If you do not have the space to lie down, you can do a little self-massage sitting in a chair. This technique can be used at work while you are sitting. Sit in the chair and straighten your back.
