The hospital decorated in flat screen televisions, which will be what is directing you to where you need to go. On the 3rd floor, which is the women’s and children’s unit. This unit has the patient rooms superficially soothing the patient by facing the traffic of 280. While this may not seem all that soothing, the stunning view will literally take your breath away. Miles and miles of trees and looping interstates seem to be the most famous attraction when coming into the patients’ room. The large windows make it extremely easy to get lost in your thoughts while staring at the outside world, but in case that is not your style, there are two 42” flat screen televisions in each patients’ room. On the television in the room you may order movies or even watch Netflix. One of the televisions will inform you of everything you need to know about the patient, including nurse and doctor names, labs, and goals for the day. Have you ever had to sleep in those uncomfortable chairs in the hospital rooms? The sofas in the women and children rooms have pullout beds which will once again make you forget where you

It was different than what I expected from a doctor’s office. Surprisingly the roof was flat not pointed like most offices and not a very tall building. I expected lots of rocks, small bushes near the door, smooth concrete building with slight indentions for decoration, metal plaque inside the concrete and the area

In additions, the protocol also outlined that those who are ambulatory should walk out of the building and those who were non-ambulatory should be provided assistance out of the building (). Development and growing a facility takes much time and contemplation with respect to regulatory requirements, budgets, planning and development of the building and the interior design of the building. Mr. Thathamkulam was an integral part in the space planning process in the eye clinic and took the initiative in making the plans to rearrange the staff rooms to make extra rooms for patient care. With the assistance of the IT team, space planning committee, and interior designing department, staffs were relocated among themselves, in order to accommodate more new staff to meet the growing patients’ care population and maintaining patient rights and Health Insurance Portability and Protection Act (HIPPA) law as well. This change has made a big impact in reducing the wait time (from 25min to 10min) for patients, and increasing patient and staff satisfaction (78% to 89%). In his daily practice, he also ensure that all the staff follows the VHA, medical center, and the clinic policy. He has informed and monitored regularly all the staff, including residents in the clinic not to discuss about patient health matters with the patient or to anyone else in the hallways. Therefore the Eye Clinic, which Mr. Thathamkulam manages, does not have any violation of patient rights or HIPPA policy.
“A facility layout can be defined as an arrangement of all that is needed for production of a good or delivery of service, and a facility is a unit that enables the routine of a certain job.” (Rattan, 2012) Many companies use different layouts to accommodate the needs and wants of the company. Just think about every time you walk into a Walmart, Target, CVS, Walgreens, etc... The layout is what works best for the overall customer experience. In order for a company to receive great productivity from its workers and provide the customers with a memorable experience, they must decide on the layout of the facility. Although many may believe this is a very easy process, it really isn’t!
