Sam is a very influential person in Brett's few months in the institution; he is a prime example of a positive aspect of the institution. The Simple philosophy utilized by Sam early in the text, and reaffirmed in the conclusion "that only you can change your life" shows us he believes that rehabilitation of young offenders is much more likely to occur through the stressing of personal responsibility for ones choices rather than enforcement and punishment. Sam's farm provides a balance between authority and independence which allows Brett the opportunity to learn compliance towards authority, as well as independence at the same time.
Sammy is a 19-year-old boy conveying a cocky but cute male attitude. He describes three girls entering the A & P, setting the tone of the story. "In walk these three girls in

Danielle is shy and has a hard time standing up for herself. Anna is an outcast because of her home situation, and Jeffery hates everything. Mr. Terupt is the new teacher who knows how to deal with them all. The class wanted to have a great year with their new favorite teacher, but then a playful joke turns into a possibly fatal freak accident. So, the kids grow very close to each other as they hold onto hope that their teacher will be okay.
Sam was a responsible kid that helped his mom in ways she really can not do for herself.
Sam escapes her reality and tricks herself into painting this picture of her father to avoid coping with the actuality that he doesn't truly love her.
To reveal Sam's identity the author shows how calm Sam stays throughout the book. Even with a gun pointed at him he remained calm, almost no other people would be able to remain that calm unless they used to be a spy. Roland also reveals Sam’s identity by showing his talents. Sam speaks many languages fluently and is very good at playing the piano. Many spies can speak languages fluently and many average people can not. Lastly the author shows Sam’s identity of a spy by showing how good he was at setting traps. Sam made a punching bag crash on Alonzo. A custodian would never think of an idea of making a punching bag fall on Alonzo and a spy would be one of the few people to think of that. Various actions throughout the story from Sam have revealed his true identity of a
The same night, Sam went to her school dance with her best friend by her side and also the foreign exchange student her grandparents were hosting. The geek that had a crush on her would not leave her alone the entire night. Due to this fact, Sam decided go to the auto body part of her school and was sitting in a car. She just wanted to be alone because she was her crush Jake and his girlfriend dancing and she was getting upset. As she was sitting the geek came along and they began to talk , as they were talking in the beat up car. He told Sam that Jake was asking about her like and she got really excited. After, the geek told her this Sam started to practice talking to Jake in the hallway but could not find the right words. Later, that night when the dance was over she saw Jake in the coat closet but froze and did not say anything. On the other hand, Jake froze too when he saw her and did not say
Finally, when in battle Sam never shows of defeat or fear as it would worry the children and allow for them to lose hope in the situation. When Caine had taken over the power plant, the book stated, “ ‘I have the power plant, that’s obvious,’ Caine said. ‘Stupid of you to lose it, Sam.’ Sam had no answer to that” (Grant 322). This shows that even though Sam had lost control of the vital power plant that they had been fighting for, he did not respond with helplessness. He held his ground by not giving into the fear that Caine had wished to be spelled upon him and his army of children. The children were not able to feel this fear because they felt if Sam stayed strong the rest would follow. Not only is Sam courageous, he is also a leader. First, when electing a person to be in charge of Perdido Beach kids generally looked to Sam to be the mayor. This is because before the FAYZ, Sam was known as School Bus Sam since he saved peoples lives when a school bus that he was on crashed. His ability to act quickly and make decisions that other people would find to be too difficult makes him a good leader. Also, Sam acts like a leader in that he wants to be a good role model to the kids of the town. He believes that if he wants people to follow his order he must first do what he orders of other people. When Astrid delivered news that kids were killing animals, the book states, “If he started blowing off his duties,
Sammy’s assumption of others is immature and serves only as a distraction from his self-distain. He describes, in great detail, the three girls who enter
Both Dolly and Sam are responsible for much of the hardship their family experiences, Sam through his relentless gambling and Dolly through her alcoholism and infidelity. Samantha white is one of the main characters in our film. She is a strong, passionate, woman with intentions to change the entire school. Sam is also the host of the school's radio show Dear White People. Sam intends to clear the complacent fog that has come over the majority of the school. Initially whenever Sam was introduced to me, I felt uneasy as she seemed ferocious in terms of her passion. I felt like she was blinded by her past. That she was held back by her sense of duty. That feeling begins to change when Sam gets elected as house president. Sam used the election as a way of self-promoting a petition. Little did she know this election would be a changing point.
When going on a case Sam is the one doing most of the research and usually remembers many details about certain things Dean tends to overlook. Sam is also more
These are the things that fill Sam’s head, things caused by “a war which ended when she was but a child” but are still “the center of her life” (Stewart 1). They have been “banned from public consciousness,” but not from hers (Morrissey 1). Her obsession can be traced to her father who was killed during the war. She felt that she should have lived in the sixties, saying “[they] were a lot more fun than now,” because the sixties gave her a link to him (Mason 234). Never knowing her father, it has been her conquest to bring him back, if not physically then at least in spirit. Perhaps it is because her mother never talked about him, maybe it is just a link she feels she is missing, but most definitely it has left a
