Why are cell phones so feared in schools? Why could they help us instead of becoming a hindrance in the classroom? WHAT makes them so useful? Many parents support phones in schools so they can coordinate picking up their children after school or for certain activities. Phones are a great tool for parents to use and plan certain events with their children that happen in the school. Such as maybe an afterschool meet up with a certain club that their child is in. Their child can even call their parents in order to go home early due to an illness. Phones can be used as a tool for tracking and analyzing data in the classroom. At Melrose High school, science students use a physics app to collect data and measure sound density. If we suddenly start using phones in classrooms instead of having to use paper which can easily make an organized person disorganized, we would save time and become more efficient when learning in the classrooms. Phones can also be used to listen to music while they study or finish up work in class. When they’re used effectively, it increases alpha levels in the brain, which boosts memory and allows the brain to access nerve capacity. Phone technology has been upgrading and updating for years now, and that’s obvious, and that means that this generation is filled with it. While it’s upgrading it’s also becoming more in demand than before. The world is starting taking it to another level, so there are also the downsides of these phones, the downsides that make this technology distracting, making people to beleive they shouldn’t be alowed in class. While it is true, phones can be a distraction sometimes, if the students are monitered the right way and know exactly what they are doing, phones just might be able to work out. With proper use, phones should be alowed in school.
With the statements given by my evidence, it is true that phones are useful and well used tools when students and teachers have the proper websites and apps to go to for specific things. This is good because the technology is so easy to use and is good at keeping track of things you need to do or have already done such as tests and/or quizzes.
Another reason that kids should have phones during school is that an emergency can happen at anytime and if a kid needs to contact their parent, they can use their phone. Although most to all classrooms have phones, for every kid to wait during an emergency to call their parents can be scary and most kids would like to contact their parents as soon as possible and for as long as they want or need.

Teachers let students use their cell phones for school purposes instead of being seen as a distraction. First of all schools are strict about not allowing phones. Which it could help students concentrate better if teachers let them listen to music. It could help them stay on task and work harder. Many teachers believe that cell phones don’t belong in a classroom because there are several disadvantages. An example maybe a student who uses a cell phone in class has no intension in listening or paying attention to the teacher. This student has a short attention span who cares about socializing more than his/her education. The opportunity to have phones in class is great because they are a useful tool. They provide easy access research, learning games/apps, calculators, agenda, and etc. In case of an emergency, a student can reach out to grab their phone to call home or their parents/guardian. The emergency could be them forgetting to bring in something important, asking questions for their parents, and etc. Also, phones lets students to be organized with school work and to stay on task. For example, they can used for marking down any important reminders so they can get notifications, jot down notes for studying, and take pictures of documents in case they aren’t going to be in the next day. Another benefit that phones offers is to make students study more. Lastly, the phones can avoid double standards. Yes not all students think the same way, but some students do feel this way. Having to rights to use phones and teachers too everyone is satisfied, yet if only a teacher uses theirs then some students can start to get envy, and think that the school is not being fair with their rules. Once you hear the positive sides about phones in classrooms, you start to think it´s a bright idea.
Cell phones can be very disruptive and distracting, especially during a class. In the blog, “Can Cell Phones Be Educational Tools?”, a student pointed out that with internet, students can go on their phones during class, pretending to be doing work. With these devices, it is very easy to hide what you’re doing and the teacher can never be 100% sure that their students are doing what they are supposed to do. If phones were allowed in the class, during tests students could use them to cheat by either looking up answers or texting another student. Today, electronics have become important in our daily life. Even Though modern electronics help make our lives simpler, but it can also be utilized negatively. Smartphones are no longer used only for texting and calling. They are high-tech devices that can access the internet, emails, and social media. However, arguments on whether these functions are necessary for students in high school are beginning to surface. Despite the fact that phones can be utilized educationally and serve as a learning too, this same technology can also be utilized negatively at the wrong time. In agreement with many teachers, “a fair amount of teachers say cell phones have officially replaced chewing gum as the new classroom menace. Constant ringing, chirping, buzzing and texting are interfering with lessons and student learning, and some students are storing notes on their cell phones to cheat on tests”(Hart). In order for kids to learn in a fair and healthy setting, smart phones should not be allowed in school environment because of the potential for distractions and cheatings; furthermore, it can also cause degeneration of social skills.
