Why are cell phones so feared in schools? Why could they help us instead of becoming a hindrance in the classroom? WHAT makes them so useful? Students are becoming easily distracted by cell phones in the classroom, so schools are beginning to ban the usage of cellphones in schools. Although phones may also be a possible point of distraction in the classroom. The phones may prove more of a benefit to not only students, but the school staff and student’s parents. Many parents support phones in schools so they can coordinate picking up their children after school or for certain activities. Phones are a great tool for parents to use and plan certain events with their children that happen in the school. Such as maybe an afterschool meet up with a certain club that their child is in. Their child can even call their parents in order to go home early due to an illness. Phones can be used as a tool for tracking and analyzing data in the classroom. At Melrose High school, science students use a physics app to collect data and measure sound density. If we suddenly start using phones in classrooms instead of having to use paper which can easily make an organized person disorganized, we would save time and become more efficient when learning in the classrooms. Phones can also be used to listen to music while they study or finish up work in class. When they’re used effectively, it increases alpha levels in the brain, which boosts memory and allows the brain to access nerve capacity.
