Sneakers have transformed our world. Created in the 18th century, the rubber soled shoes were known for helping people get around quietly, resulting in the name, sneakers. Initially, sneakers were quite a pain to wear and were made solely for labor-intensive activities and athletic endeavors. Thankfully, much has changed since then and sneakers have become iconic fashion statements and a staple in almost everyone’s wardrobe.
I Think Jordans are good shoes. Jordans are good shoes because they have a lot of different varieties , the styles/varieties are basketball , running and some cleats. The supporting of the jordan shoe make them comfortable because they secure your ankles from sprains, pain and other bad things without ankle support shoes.
In the beginning, sneakers were made by Indians in Central and South America. These shoes were made from rubber and were most likely not the most comfortable shoes (pg.54 par. 1). As time swooshed past like an eagle scooping its prey, sneakers evolved and became more popular. They became more popular through sports, and sneaker heads.
When were the modern sneakers introduced? It seems like they’ve been around forever! This is actually true! As stated in paragraph one of The History of Sneakers; “the Maya, Olmecs, And Aztecs of Central and South America made their own version of rubber soled shoes 3,000 years ago.” This means, sneakers haven’t been around just these past hundred years, but really as long as humans themselves.
While utilizing my “sociological imagination,” the first object that came to mind that is involved in a particular physical culture is Nike sneakers. These sneakers are extremely popular within casual wear, sportswear, exercise wear and in fashion. Nike sneakers are not just a personal behavior, but also highly influenced by society. Professional athletes wear this brand, which influences children who look up to them to want to wear them. Also, this brand endorses professional athletes, so basically the brand is paying them to wear their shoe to increase popularity.
Footwear also known as shoes was invented to protect a person’s foot while doing various activities, primarily created for functional and practical use. However, shoe design has constantly evolved throughout history and from culture to culture. The notion of complementing your outfit with the perfect shoe has been the impetus of design and many styles of shoes; such as high heels, flats and sneakers. Modern footwear varies widely in design, comfortability and cost. Nike is a multinational company that offers many types of footwear and has been a leading pioneer in the retail market for decades. Air Jordan’s and Converse are notably Nike’s most proverbial brands. These two brands are a quintessential example of a price difference within the same corporation.
It all started with a Jumpman and a swoosh, it was more than just a shoe it was the start of a culture. What most people look at as just a shoe to protect their feet has a story behind it and a deeper meaning to me and many others than “just a pair of shoes”. Don’t put on a pair of shoes unless you know how to wear them right. For every pair I own I could explain the troubles I went through and the people I met to get each sneaker. The best feeling was opening that fresh shoe box and taking out that paper wrapping. Putting on each new pair of sneakers is like taking a breath of fresh air each pair crisp as bacon. I am one among many sneakerheads, people who love to buy, sell, trade, and collect rare shoes. There is a culture, lifestyle, and history behind sneaker collecting. Most people would think dropping hundreds if not thousands on a pair of shoes is crazy but I believe sneakers are essential.
When you hear the word sneakers, what do you think of? For me sneakers was a word that inspired me to be great. When i think of sneakers i think of people of a high caliber. For example, i think of Raf Simmons, Lebron James, Michael Jordan, kanye, and so many more. Fortunately, there's not only one way to view sneakers. Some people may see shoes as just a shoe, but others may see it as a culture and/or a way of life. At a young age i fell in love with sneakers. At the age of 12 i probably owned over 20 pairs of sneakers. I did this because i saw sneakers in a way that others didn't. For example, Jordan sneakers aren't just Jordan sneakers to me. This is because the men in my life have made very terrible decisions. For example, there was a point
Back then, Jordan was only at the start of what was going to be a blistering career and even then, at just a tender age, he was already starting to live up to the world-class billing fans had already placed on his head. Ultimately, he would surpass expectations in scintillating fashion and hence how the concept of these new sneakers came about. They serve to be a memorable and ever-present reminder of where it all started; they tell the tale of the boy before he became legend.
Not only are sneakers a part of my identity, they are a part of my self-expression as well. Listed in my top 5 favorites is my Air Jordan 7 Retro “Bordeaux”. The color scheme of burgundy and dark yellow mixed with black and grey is such an eye-catcher, just like my 5’10” height, brown skin complexion, and sensible fashion. The shoe brings out confidence, and as a result, I feel in control and unstoppable whenever I put them on. It goes deeper than just buying another pair of sneakers to me, they’re a declaration of my personality and
Michael Jordan’s, Nike, Adidas and Puma their shoe sales went up in the 1980’s. Amber J. Keyset started to design different shoes starting with Michael Jordans. When one pair was released more people grew into them either for the style or the history behind the pair. “Sneakerhead;a person who collects trade and/or admires sneakers as a form of a hobby, knowledgeability on sneakers”(Powell). Sneakerhead culture impacted the society with its new look and style by making them more desirable and increasing the shoe industry.
Air Jordan has been a huge part of the shoe game ever since they first came out in 1985. When Nike first saw Michael Jordan’s performance in college they immediately took action with him he got drafted into the NBA.. With all of his athletic ability not every game did he always play like the superstar he played like as we know him today. Yet his shoes still did sell pretty well for his first and second years playing in the NBA. As the years went by Michaels show performance got way better by averaging 30 points a game, and that’s when his shoes went crazy in selling. Everyday there were about several million pairs of Jordans selling each day. To think that Air Jordan could've never existed after Michael Jordan tried to get his agent to get him a deal with Adidas. But Nike pulled out and got Jordan to sign with them.(Elder, 2013) Nike noticed what a tremendous impact that Jordan had in the NBA. In matter of fact he played so good that Nike wanted to make him his own brand of shoes called Jordan. The first pair of shoes they made called the Air Jordan 1s weren’t selling or changing the game so they had to make a good color that opened people's eye.
The main reason for my love of these cleats would be because of the overall simplicity of the cleats. These cleats aren’t super flashy as some of the other popular cleats are. Also, these cleats have great spikes that allow for fast cuts on both grass and turf surfaces. In my opinion, these cleats out class all the other Nike cleats because they are simple. If you look at the Nike Hypervenoms or
I read this article which was about sneakers culture. The article was created by Patrick Johnson and Staff Writer. This article benefits people who are new to the sneaker culture or who is trying to get into the sneaker game. It tells you what you’re getting yourself into and what addiction people have over some shoes. It benefits companies too because the companies are making their money and they don’t care if you get hurt or end up getting arrested.
