Why Do Women Get Paid?

On the basis of gender, women continue to be paid less for the same work as men; however, women are outnumbered by men in the highest-paying jobs and dominate in the lowest-paying jobs.

Men get paid more than females do. Men get promotions more than females do. In the work place women get sexual harassed by their employee. Women who had less education also received less pay. Females have a harder time on trying a CEO position and are challenged when they do earn the position by the male workers. If a male who has graduated college work he will make over 91,000 dollars but if a women who has graduated college works in the same position she would make around 60,000 dollars. So, we don't get paid the same amount even if we do work just as hard as the men

For many women they feel that they are doing the same work as men, but not receiving the same pay or compensation for the same amount of work. It has been show that women do not make the same amount as men for the same work. Also it has been show that many people have not received jobs because of their race or gender. I feel that if someone is doing the same work as another person they should be getting equal pay and someone should not be denied a career opportunity if they are qualified because of their race of gender. Even though men still beat women with income pay, women out beat men in education. Nowadays there are a lot of women graduates from universities, master programs and colleges. Also, some studies showed that women are doing better in school then men (Buchmann & Diprete 2006). So why are women still not getting paid equally as men?

In the modern United States of America i do think that men are treated different than women. Men are treated as if they are superior to women. Pay in the United States may vary for the same job based on weather you are a woman or a man. I think there is somewhat of a system of equality, but this system is nowhere near perfect. The reason our system is not perfect is because we still don't have things such as equal pay. There is no denying if there is a gender pay gap in America, the real question is why are women still getting paid less than men? Traditionally, women simply can not work as many hours as men due to their first job, being a mother. But is this the only reason women are not making the same income as a man with the same job position and education level? Companies around America have unequal pay between sexes and the topic has brought up some controversy. Companies will say that it saves them money by paying women less. Female employees should not have a lesser pay than their male coworkers for the same work because unfair pay is illegal and women put just as much effort into their work as men.

This is surprising, especially because research says women affect roughly 80% of customers' purchases positively (Reich and McCulloch). Women are doing the same work and the same amount of work as men, but are not getting paid as much. For example, "Female financial specialists make 66% of what males do. Doctors make 71%, and lawyers and judges make 87%," (Hardwick). Females working the same job as males are being paid fractions of what the men are paid. Instead of society bettering itself, it has taken steps back because of this discrimination.

Women earn 21 cents less than a dollar when their male peers get a dollar, and that’ll affect them in the long run because they won’t have as much money for drinks, food, medical bills, insurance bills, housing bills, financial bills, etc. Women with a bachelor's degree or higher only earned 76% of their ale peers. Which means that women get payed less for the same jobs because they get 76 cents for every dollar men get. Gender wage equality is a universal right that everyone should be entitled to. Women & men should be payed the same for the same jobs. Although some may argue that men work more hours than women, women are more efficient at their jobs. Pay should be equal because men and women have the same education, and men and women are equal.

Women play a key role in our society. They make up 49.6% percent of our population. All over the world, there are women leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, doctors. They go to college. They have important jobs. They work hard. How is it possible, then, that in the 21st century they are still getting paid less than men? In Colombia, the average woman earns only 72.7% of what a man does, and it's considered to be a country that's close to having equal pay. Has humanity really sunk low enough to call 70% equality? How are there still people out there who think women shouldn't earn the same amount of money men do?
