Walter Elias Disney, an influential innovator and entrepreneur, is the creator of one of the most recognized and successful corporations in the world, The Walt Disney Company. He was born in 1901 in Chicago, and he was an avid artist. He took drawing and photography classes at school and was a contributing cartoonist for the school paper. Having this interest, he joined the Red Cross and drove an ambulance decorated with his own cartoon drawings. His inventive, creative mind was one of the reasons why he was so successful. For instance, his cartoons had a way of making people laugh and smile, and he was the first person to produce a cartoon with sound and color. Additionally, he loved what he was doing. He loved creating characters out of mere creativity. These were lovable characters that people wanted to know more and more about. He realized what people loved about his productions so much, so he continued making more. Given that it was the period of the Great Depression and World War II, he, along with his brother Roy, used very smart business strategies such as "…dedicating much of his new studio to producing health, education and propaganda films for the U.S. government" (para. 6). He re-released Snow White during the war period, which brought a lot of revenue into the company.
