Should boys and girls be in separate classes?
A few years ago, separate classes for male and female students were common, but have decreased today. However, some parents are still worried about students’ attention during the class at coed schools. This thought maybe not correct. Because students at coed schools can learn ways to understand and to build friendships with members of other genders, coed school curriculum is more effective for their future lives. Staying in the same classroom, boys and girls have better educational and personal experiences.
Because school is place to learn how to live in the real world, boys and girls have to learn how to understand different ways of thinking. Schools play a major role in socialization of an individual. Socialization is essential to children to behave in ways which is acceptable in their culture through the school education. Teachers and parents usually think that students attending schools for only one gender do not have relationships with boyfriends or girlfriends. It might be right that having a relationship can disturb students to concentrate on studying. However, they misunderstand teenagers; it cannot be a proper solution to make them to stop. Whenever they want, students can make some chances to meet members of the opposite gender through their friends or at academies. Moreover, students who are in schools for only one gender have fewer experiences to understand and become friends with members of the opposite sex. Having fewer experiences might make them to become less sociable and to become lonely people. Consequently, boys and girls should not be in separate
I think boys and girls should and shouldn’t be in separate classes. I think this because most boys are distracting and make a lot a racket in class and are always trying to find a way to bother someone. Also girls are more likely going to be the worst because they are talkative and are always looking for something to gossip about and likely get in trouble more in class if it was just girls. But girls also sometime focus more when there aren’t any guys around. Boys no matter what will always be causing trouble in class or school. Girls are also more likely to focus in class than boys too. But either way with girls and boys together in class or not together in class will cause trouble no matter what.

It is no secret teachers sometimes put stereotypes on certain genders, whether they know it or not. In this article it states, “in coed schools, teachers are more likely to attend to individual learning needs rather than assuming all boys learn in one way and all girls learn in the other”("Washington Parent." ). Teachers of single-sex schools often assume girls learn one way and boys learn in the other, like the article says, but if the said boys are better learning visually than girls, when most are not, their grade could suffer. Thinking that all boys are visual learners and making boys learn visually because of that could make they boy fail because he is not understanding properly in a visual way. This article also says, “coed schools offer both boys and girls a more extensive range of extracurricular activities where they can either participate separately or together,”("Washington Parent." ). This is saying in coed schools, there is a certain camaraderie between boys and girls that single-sex schools miss out on. In today’s society, education has become a very important factor in a student 's life. Everyone tries to do and implement whatever is best for the student to learn and become successful. Therefore, as a result, society tries to separate schools based on gender. Schools should be separated by gender for many reasons. The first reason is that gender separation will help eliminate bullying. It has been demonstrated that boys, in general, tend to be more rude and violent than girls causing the boys to “bully” girls. Another reason they should be separated is to help break down stereotypes. An example of this is that girls are free of the pressure to compete with boys in male dominated subjects such as math and science. Another reason they should be separated is that it makes it easier on the teacher to use different learning techniques that are geared toward specific genders. It is a great idea to separate students by gender at schools if they want the students to have a better education. This will help prevent bullying at schools, help breakdown stereotypes, and encourage teachers to use different educational techniques.
Many people thought that the shyness in a person is a good thing. Yes, it is good thing, but not in every situation. Most shy people are modest. They are the last ones to let the world know how great they are. When you are not talkative and shy when around other people it's hard to make friends and be sociable. A students who is full of shyness, will lose some advantages and benefits because shyness is like a barrier for people who wants to acquire knowledge. For example, student who is afraid to ask a teacher about something that they do not understand due to the shyness in them will actually lose their benefits to gain knowledge from a teacher. In a single sex school, they will have a confidence in them and the shyness in them will decrease since they are in the single sex school that give more confidence surrounded with the same gender. Somehow, it will be easier for a student to work together for some project because there will be no boundaries between them.
Almost all of the schools who have switched to single-sex classes have seen an improvement in the student's academics. In two years, five schools that use single-sex classes have seen a 50% decrease in disciplinary referrals. Although coed classes build better social skills for later on in life, schools should switch to single gender classes. Making the switch will help students to be more focused and less distracted, learn to be more academically competitive, and promote better grades.
Have you ever wondered if single-gender schools are better than coed schools? Each side has advantages, but there are also disadvantages to them. My thoughts on this subject is coed schools aren’t as supportive and beneficial as single-gender schools. I think this for many reasons, including that single-gender schools improve student collaboration, self-improvement by not worrying about being judged by the breaking down of stereotypes, and teachers can use better teaching techniques when teaching one gender classes. Although, some people might think otherwise, that coeducational schools prepare students for the outside world more effectively, I think differently. In my own opinion, I indeed think that single-sex schools are better than coed schools.
When deciding whether or not to experiment with single-sex classrooms, there are many issues that must be taken into consideration. Those who would be hurt most by this decision would be males. If boys are not able to learn alongside girls, their achievement level would decline and their character development would be hindered. Experimenting with this concept would arise multiple issues and put boys at disadvantages that would put them behind those who are able to learn in coeducational classrooms both educationally and behaviorally; these concerns must be taken into consideration before putting single-sex classrooms into place.

Single gender and coed schools have issues and some good things to come. Like at a single gender school always talking to the same gender might drive you insane. Maybe talking to a different gender will mabe calm you down. A pro to a single gender school would be focused on their work than someone of a different race. In a coed school the males and females would want to find a way to talk or try. In 2006 federal legislation allowed public school districts to create single- gender schools and classrooms for their students. That was a wise decision considering single sex schools have been proven to benefit students. Although society insist that coed school is a superior learning style and is key to getting better grades they are wrong, single sex schools actually have a better history with the educational performance of their students and due to that their students are acknowledged to obtain a more profound career path.
When considering the different educational methods that each school provides for the students, parents will need to understand that every child learns differently. Each person can either learn by being a visual learner, auditory learner, or tactile learner. The different learning methods are not the only things that can effect learning. Learning can also be affected by the way that a teacher may present information, however a student’s attention may be pulled away by the distractions that can be caused by peer pressure, stress, and hormonal urges from the opposite sex. Single sex schools can eliminate these distractions that are caused by co-ed schools. In doing so, this can raise the academic success of both female and male students.

Girls (or female bodied people) develop physically at a much faster rate than boys (or male bodied people), these sudden changes can become a struggle for everyone in the classroom. For the female bodied people the sudden onset of menstruation changes their lives, the presence of puberty makes female bodied persons emotional sensitivity and volatility increase. The classroom becomes separated naturally due to the noticeable natural changes occurring in female bodied and the lack of changes occurring in male bodied people. Male bodied people observe the changes of female bodied people and stress about when their own change will take place. At the ripe age of 11 girls begin to form exclusive cliques, this can lead to drama as the exclusion can seem cruel in some ways, it is vital for teachers to have a good balance between watching and interfering with these cliques. To many parents their child's safety and happiness are the most important things to them. According to Jessica Webster a psychologist says “there’s a connection between social development, happiness and academic performance.” A child's emotional state can affect many stages of their life. Boys and girls have different emotional views so when being together these children have an affect on one another. A child who interacts with both sexes has better social skills than a child who is put with the same sex.
