My initial interest in nursing began from my experience with my grandmother. It was in the fall of 2007 when my grandmother was sent to the hospital due to hypernatremia. My dad would pick me up every afternoon from school to visit my grandmother. I was given the responsibility to look after my grandma for nearly two weeks that includes in feeding her, assisting her, and other light duties. What fascinate me during my visits in the hospital were the nurses who assisted and took care of my grandma. They treated my grandma with dignity, kindness, compassion, courtesy, respect, understanding, and love. Their commitment, professionalism, dedication, determination and skills inspired me to pursue a career in the medical field. From that point, I realized that nursing is a field that enables people impact other people’s lives and make a difference. At 9 years old, being a nurse was a childhood dream and now I am at the point of turning my dream into reality. I want to study and pursue my dream registered nursing at Ryerson University that offers a nursing degree program that focuses on developing student’s critical thinking skills, ability to analyze reflectively and apply theory through community health focused practice making Ryerson one of the best nursing schools in Canada.

I would like to become a DNP Family Nurse Practitioner. The requirements I will need for this degree will be RN licensure, followed by a BSN program, then a Nurse Practitioner doctorate program in family medicine. The road that will take me to this goal will be graduating Columbia Basin College with an ADN, take and pass the NCLEX, followed by one year of clinical experience. I will then apply to an online BSN program, preferably CBC, but I could apply to WGU, or WSU. An online BSN program may take one year to eighteen months to complete. I am aware that this is not an easy program. I know that it will a lot of take hard work, determination, and a passion for what I am studying. I am prepared to take on the challenge. Two colleges I would like to attend is High Point University and UNC Pembroke. I would like to attend High Point because it is near both Winston-Salem and Greensboro. UNC Pembroke is also a great option to attend to because I noticed that the campus is closed off which will help in staying focus but it’s not as close to the city. My academic interest is in natural science involving biology but also math. My social interests is doing activities in the city in order to have a separation from campus life.

As today’s controversy surrounding Confederate memory grows, it begins to include not just the popular monuments to the Confederacy such as Stone Mountain, and monuments to General Lee, Jefferson Davis, and Nathan Forrest. Now even lesser memorials such as Silent Sam have also come under attack from civil rights activists lately. Silent Sam has stood on the University of North Carolina’s main campus in Chapel Hill for over 100 years. In that time there have only been a few times in which Sam has been the object of criticism.

This particular college gives me the opportunity to spend two years studying on campus and two years studying at the Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Here I will gain experience by working in the field while completing my coursework. My hope is to graduate in the Spring of 2021 and find a Nursing position to begin my career. Upon achieving my BSN degree and working in the field of Nursing, I plan to further my education by attending graduate school. I would like to get a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree in order to become a Certified Nurse Practitioner.

As a Wilmington resident of seventeen years, my choice to attend the University of North Carolina Wilmington is ‘without a shadow of a doubt’ an easy one. In eighth grade, I began to seriously decipher through colleges, and attempted to decide which one was meant for me. UNCW wasn’t initially my first choice, but as I got older, matured, did extensive research, and with my college years growing nearer, it became very evident that it was where I needed to be.

I am writing to express my interest in admittance to the South University Family Nurse Practitioner program for fall of 2016. This program came highly recommended to me by a professional colleague who is currently precepting students enrolled in this program. I have been a registered nurse for eleven years and have recently received my bachelor’s degree in nursing from Daytona State College _______. I have earned an extensive amount of experience in several different fields of nursing such as, emergency medicine, intensive care, pediatrics, woman’s health, and mental health. I am eager to incorporate my experience into a practitioner role of diagnosing and disease process.

I am currently in my second year of studies at Delaware County Community College. My major is Science for the Health Professions and my goal is to be enrolled in Thomas Jefferson University's Nursing Program by Fall 2017. My mother is currently a Registered Nurse. She has inspired me to fulfill this career and I aim to surpass her success and achieve my Masters Degree in Nursing rather than an Associate's. However, this past year has proven to be the most difficult in my efforts of achieving this dream of mine.

I am striving to achieve professionalism and growth in roles and values while going through the bachelor’s degree in nursing program. I plan on taking each class one at a time, try to do my best, and gain the knowledge needed to grow in the nursing profession. By October 2010, I should obtain my bachelor’s degree in nursing, which will provide new opportunities, such as management, and educator positions. A bachelor’s degree in nursing will provide the opportunity to further my education to a master’s degree level.
