The World Trade Center movies was about the officers were at work then got the word that the first tower was hit they went to go and help. When they get there they gather supplies for themselves like air tanks and things like that. They were going to go into the first tower when they other officers were going to go to the second because it had just been hit. They were on their way when it started to come down on them. The sargent John officer Will were trapped under at least 20ft or more of debrie that scattered the ground. It was 2 days before they got rescued. Officers from different countries came to help. John was from New Jersey and Will was from New York. When they got stuck under the debrie Will was being crushed under a giant piece
A total of 19 men, split up in three groups of five and one group of four, passed all airport security checkpoints and boarded four airplanes. They all had knifes of some kind, attacked the cockpit about 30-45 min into the flight, threatened the passengers with fake bombs, and hijacked the plane with the intent on ramming them into important American locations. One hit the North Twin Tower of the World Trade Center, one hit the South Twin Tower of the World Trade Center, another hit the Pentagon, while the last never made it to its destination in Washington D.C., it crashed into a field 20 min from there. The response to the hit of the towers was immediate. Every kind emergency agency rushed to help. However, since they didn’t have standardized procedures on how to deal with something like this and there was no universal or shared radio system, it was utter chaos. Departments struggled to communicate with each other which complicated the task of relaying important information. The New York Times tells us, “Numerous firefighters, police officers and other rescue workers who responded to the initial disaster in Lower Manhattan were killed or injured when the buildings collapsed. Hundreds were treated for cuts, broken bones, burns and smoke inhalation.” (Schmemann,
Fourteen years ago, our country appeared to come to a halt at 8:46 am. As the first hijacked plane hit the north tower of the World Trade Center, Americans were filled with fear and melancholy. And as they held their breath, awaiting some sense of hope, you did what most people could never imagine doing. You went into the buildings while people were going out, holding your own, in the midst of the immense heat and disintegrating steel.
It was a normal day in New York City, with business workers rushing into the World Trade Center. They thought it was going to be like any other day in the office but they were wrong. These office workers were in for the biggest surprise of their life. Planes flown by hijackers crashed into both the Twin Towers, and the Pentagon was hit by a plane as well. Now there is a memorial in New York where the bases of the towers were honoring the people who died that day.
SS General Reinhard Heydrich was in charge of the “Reich security” and appointed to lead the infamous Wannsee Conference. This conference featured many established leaders in the Nazi Party, SS, and German government and gets its name from the location of the meeting, a wealthy German suburb. The purpose of this conference was to inform the slightly lower ranking German leaders of the “Final Solution” to the ‘Jewish question.’ The movie Conspiracy focuses on the Wannsee Conference and shows the influence on many of the aforementioned leaders. Kenneth Branagh, the actor that portrays Heydrich, is able to successfully imitate his commanding presence throughout the film with his use of body language and tone. From the opening scene of the
In the documentary 9/11, the tale of 9/11 is told using footage of firefighters inside the Towers during that horrific morning. The documentary was originally supposed to follow the trials and tribulations of a rookie firefighter, but it became one of few video recordings inside the Towers as the events occurred. One of the more notable aspects of the film is the sound of bodies hitting the ground outside the towers. There is no footage of the actual bodies hitting the ground outside the building, but the sound is like nothing the firefighters (or myself) have ever heard before. One of the firefighters in the documentary questions, “how bad is it up there that the better option is to jump?” (9/11). There were so many bodies tumbling from the upper stories of the towers that people could not be evacuated through the lobby doors as they risked being killed by one of the ‘jumpers’ (9/11). The Naudet brothers made a clear decision to not show the bodies falling, while still being able to acknowledge the presence of the bodies in their accounts of that day. The Naudet brothers’ representation of the people who decided to jump from the towers was in good taste, as they wanted to share the stories of those victims, but did not want to violate the final moments of their lives. It was also valuable to include the testimony of the firefighters who heard and saw the falling bodies as the firefighters and the victims are the only people who can truly understand how horrific it was.
“This is it”, Will said softly as the he is in tower was collapsing. The jet fuel in an inferno about 20 feet away, scorching the concrete. There are dismembered limbs, scorched around him. He remembers the moments before the plane hit the 1st tower. He was terrified when he saw the plane collide. There were objects and debris flying everywhere. The people around him were terrified, wondering if the people in the other tower were alright. The tower was shook from the impact. He knew that he had to run, or else he would die. He sprinted as fast as he could to the stairs, when he was younger he had a similar experience, the Oklahoma City bombing.
On Sept. 11, 2001, A date that will live in infamy for Americans, terrorists attacked the World Trade Center in New York City. At 8:48 a.m. flight 11 crashed into the north tower. As it continued to burn a second plane flight 175 carrying 65 people crashed into the south tower around 9:05 a.m.. as smoke and debris fill the air in New York City after one of the World Trade Center towers collapsed. Police officers and rescue workers on the disaster scene in New York are covered in Ash that was two to three inches deep in places. People wandered dazed and terrified, Several firefighters coated with dust sat on the ground gasping for breath. One top fire official was asked if both towers had completely collapsed: "You
On September 11, 2001 four passenger commercial jet airliners were hijacked and as a result approximately 3,000 human lives were lost. When asked about 9/11, many can recall exactly what they were doing when they heard the news that a plane crashed into one of the World Trade Center (WTC) buildings and many Americans can tell you how it all unfolded and the reason behind such a travesty. The “official story” provided by officials, and restated by Sofia Shafquat, producer of “9/11 Mysteries: Demolitions” say that “four passenger planes were hijacked and taken radically off course, within an hour, two of the planes had flown into the enormous steel towers of the World Trade Center, creating fires and eventually toppling them” (Shafquat).
The September 11 attacks were tragic events that had spread shockwaves of horror and grief across the United States. The tragedy became the subject of controversy as some skeptics began to doubt the details reported to have transpired that day. Some people question its legitimacy, theorizing that the Bush administration devised and orchestrated the attacks to further its agenda. Filmmaker Dylan Avery discusses and promotes this prevalent conspiracy theory in his documentary, Loose Change 9/11: An American Coup. Avery argues that the government possessed foreknowledge of the attacks by comparing them to precedents of similar situations. He challenges the official explanations and provides his analyzations of evidence from the reports and media. Avery effectively appeals to pathos, ethos, and logos in his film, but his compelling argument is ultimately undermined by fallacies.
We now hear moans and screams from the streets below as the group continues dancing to their silent disco.
On a beautiful, sunny Tuesday in New York City everyone was having a normal day. But all of that changed at 8:45am when the Islamic extremist group, al-Qaeda, hijacked four planes in order to launch a suicide attack on the Pentagon and the World Trade Center, most commonly known as the Twin Towers. At 8:45, the first plane crashed into the north tower near the 80th floor of a 110-story skyscraper. Everyone just thought it was an accident until 18 minutes later, the second Boeing 767-United
In the journal article, “’United’ We Stand: Responses to the September 11 Attacks in Black and White” by Roxanna Harlow and Lauren Dundes, there were many difference between the interviews and the surveys but the biggest difference was the difference of race of the black and white students. The group interviews had to been instructed differently than the surveys because the topic of the September 11th attacks can be extremely sensitive. On page 443 it says, “evidence suggests that when discussing controversial issues, respondents tend to be the most honest with interviewers who old insider status, especially when the controversial issue is related to the status”. This seemed to make the students more comfortable, but in a survey all that you have to do is ask the questions that are a lot easier and straight forward. The information on the surveys did not show a big difference between the answers from the black and whites who were interviewed. There were some questions where whites seemed to
Primary sources are first-hand accounts of a moment in time. The use of raw materials such as images, letters, recordings, letters, interviews, objects and other sources are the best form of direct evidence to support research. One of the most vivid forms is images. Photographs have the power to provoke strong emotions one might miss with words. It is important when selecting images the media is subjective, and provides the most accurate account during that time period. When using photographs as primary sources there are several factors you should consider to ensure the photograph is the best analysis for your research. One of the most memorable events of the 21st century was 9/11. I will examine how using images can be just as powerful, if not more powerful and meaningful than words, when used correctly by looking at two different sources, The 9/11 Commission Report and The 9/11 Report , but showcasing the same thing in two different ways.
Movies created in Soviet Russia were prominently used as a tool for propaganda, “The Fall of Berlin,” used contrast to idealize Soviet Russia by downplaying Germany and Hitler. “The Fall of Berlin” was released in 1950, right after World War II ended. The film is Soviet propaganda that was thought to insure faith within the Russian population, as Stalin wanted Soviet Russia to believe in him. The movie characterized Stalin with such gratitude and admiration, even I believed he was a good leader.
Still not knowing the details, McLoughlin (Cage) asks for volunteers to enter the building with him.
