My life and Writing Along the Way Writing has always been a love – hate relationship of mine. In the past, I have had many writing experiences, both good and bad. I find many things involved with writing both simple and difficult. But in the end, I hope to become a better writer, so it can play an important role in my future. I grew up in the city Ashland, WI, attended and graduated from Ashland High School where I was involved in many activities such as Volleyball, National Honor Society, and Yearbook. Math was one of my strongest subjects in high school; nonetheless, English was, without a doubt, my weakest subject. One of the worst experiences I encountered with writing in high school was the time I received a poor grade on a paper I worked hard on. On the other hand, one of my best experiences with writing had to be the time I wrote the essay that influenced my acceptance into …show more content…
I normally begin an essay by brainstorming ideas and writing them down via bullet list. Once I feel confident that I have enough information, I create my draft. After completing my draft, I then revise my essay; I try to have someone else read it to get a second opinion. Lastly, I edit my essay, revise it once more, and then I submit it. While writing an essay, I find it most difficult to write an introduction paragraph. I always want to grab the reader’s attention, but I have a hard time coming up with a creative way to do so. As a solution, I research examples of what others have used in past essays in hopes of a light-bulb moment. In contrast, I believe the easiest part of writing for me is the revising and editing. One thing I find useful when revising is to have my computer read my essay out loud, so I can here if it sounds like a well written essay. If I remain determine to learn and work hard throughout this semester I believe I can be successful in this class and improve my writing skills for the
My high school years were not spectacular, nor were they terribly productive.I left high school without learning how to proficiently write an essay. However, CUNY's Borough of Manhattan Community College afforded me a desperately needed second chance. It was at BMCC that I sharpened many of the skills I should have mastered in high school. I was able to greatly improve my writing ability. I began college as a student who found writing a 2 page paper to be a terrifyingly daunting task, but due to practice and numerous resources offered by CUNY, I soon was able to compose papers consisting of 10-14 pages with confidence and efficiency.
I’m not a notable writer, nor have I really wanted to join the writing industry. However, I have been interested in other people’s writing. From their deep meanings, content, and different formats/styles. It’s a wondrous creation made from within our imagination and experiences. It has inspired me to write too. I’ve been writing most of my life that it has become a necessity. And now from my past experiences with writing, I try my best to improve my skills as a writer for the future.
Writing lets me tell people things without directly telling them, it’s a whole new way of communication. Stories with great meaning, with great suspense and dramatic moments, that’s the kind of books I will write, the kind I hope people will enjoy and connect to. This paper will explain my plans for the future, and what I need to focus on in order to become a successful author.
Writing has always been a part of who I am and who I want to be. One of my first and favorite childhood memories in school was a classroom book writing project. Ever since I could write my name, I have kept a journal. In school, I always did well in English and thought I knew quiet a lot about it. However, since taking English Composition and Rhetoric this semester, I have learned that I did not know nearly as much as I thought I did.
good afternoon, when it comes to writing I belive there are certain areas I could improve in order to become a stronger writer for myself as well as those who will be reading my writing. In my future career writing will be an important asset in the work field because you must write everything in detail in order for others to understand. In criminal justice case work and reports will entail writing, in the future I hope to become a strong enough writer so that I can succeed in the work
In my view, a writer is a writer because even when there is no hope, even when nothing you do shows any sign of promise, you keep writing anyway.” This statement is by-far a quote I live by. I in no way believe that everything I write is perfect; however, everything I write is a step in the right direction. The greatest moments for a writer in my opinion are not the moments of finding the most ideal line, or finding a great plot twist, they are the moments when a writer is stuck and has no idea what else to write yet they push themselves to continue. As a writer, my mission is to make an impact in people’s lives. My career goal is to become a creative writing professor. I want to show students the beauty in writing, the therapeutic aspect, the side of writing that pushes the boundaries of realism, and the parts that test the waters of social matters. It allowed me to express all the thoughts that raced through my mind, and release the stress that I had built up and find relief. Putting words onto paper brought me to a stable and calm mindset. As a teen, and even as I grow older, writing is something that I need in my life. I want to be able to show students that they can find peace in writing just as I
Upon entering this writing course, I had thought I wouldn’t be a better writer than I was. I know my writing habits still need improving, but I can tell that I have improved since I graduated from high school. You can only go up in progress, you only fail when you stop trying. I keep that saying in my head to help push myself to become a better writer. In time, being able to write in a proper way will carry out the result I want.
The expression “practice makes perfect” could not be any truer. Writing along with any other activity or hobby, is something that can be improved. Over time the creative writing process becomes second nature, and without even realizing every essay, paper or simple paragraph will end up having the same format. Many strategies can improve a persons’ writing, but for me the act of brainstorming, outlining, and peer editing have immensely benefitted me as a writer.
Writing to me is one of the best ways to challenge one’s creativity. The best kind of writing causes people to exercise their imaginations and causes them to think differently then they may have previously. I’m hoping that writer’s craft will further my love of writing and that this letter will give you a little preview of who I am.
As a writer, I develop more every time I step foot into the classroom. Over the years of learning how to write, I was not always confident. In fact, as of this current year of 2015 I am the most confident as a writer than I have ever been. This year I began college, where I am taking English 1101 with Professor Ricky Weaver. I have learned many different writing strategies in this class, ways to brainstorm, grammar rules, tips to avoid writers block, and so much more. Although I will continue to develop, I am proud of myself for reaching contentment in my writing ability.
Writing is important for the learners of any kind of language. People have different opinions about writing. Some people like writing whereas some don’t like. For me, I love and enjoy writing even though I am not a good writer. I love writing because of some reason such as writing improve our skills, helps to correct our errors and helps to identify our weakness or strength about writing.
Throughout my life I have always hated writing. Writing was one of the few things that I failed at in school. Throughout the years I have always done so poorly on most of my writing assignments and essays. I even remember a time where I had to redo an essay several times because it was just so bad. For this reason, I have always considered myself to be a terrible writer. If I were to consider my strengths and weaknesses for writing I would probably have a few strengths and my weaknesses would be almost everything about writing. This year my goal as a writer is to work hard to improve my writing.
Writing has always been a crucial part of my life. Despite any issues I faced, from my penmanship to my versatility as a writer, I wasn’t going to let these dilemmas prevent me from accomplishing my goals. Prosperity never came easy and at times it did seem futile to continue trying, but defeat wasn’t an option. Reflecting on the obstacles I conquered, it’s because of the arduous process I endured that allowed me to evolve into the writer I am today.
English has been one of the most rigorous courses I have been taking ever since elementary. Having the ability to write an essay has always been my weakness because I never found a correct way to develop the right body paragraphs. I might not be the greatest writer, but I d have the ability t have everything outlined and planned when it comes to writing. I would always try to challenge myself back in high school English because I would always try to strengthen my writing skills. I took all AP English classes throughout my four years in high school and managed to pass them. Not only that, but I took it a step further and also joined a writing club my junior year of high school. In this writing club not only did they teach the students how to write, but also gave us the techniques required to both annotate and summarize.
Writing is not a monotonous task assigned in school, despite popular belief. Writing is recording a thought, fact or fiction, pretty or disturbing, or both. Whatever the definition of writing is to an individual person, it is a skill. Writing as a skill has value to the person perfecting their skill and society. Society has benefited from the innovations that would not have been created without writing, as well as the innovation of the human brain caused by our ancestor’s scribblings. Writing is not a skill set in stone on its limits, it can be expanded and serve as a catalyst for various ambitions to surface leading to a catalog of talents and skills available. Writing does not feed the intellectual side solely, it feeds the mind and body in a positive way. Studies have shown that people who write about personal trauma need less psychological help than someone who doesn’t.
