Given Tariff E2 – Medium Voltage Peak/Off-Peak Mining Tariff as the followings:

For each kilowatt of maximum demand

RM 29.80/kW

For all kilowatt during the peak period

31.30 cents/kWh

For all kilowatt during the off-peak period

17.20 cents/kWh

The minimum monthly charges are RM 120.00

Peak hour: 08.00 – 22.00, Off-peak hour: 22.00 – 08.00

Power Factor Surcharge:

  • 1.5% surcharge of the current bill - for every 0.01 less than 0.85 power factor.
  • 3.0% surcharge of the current bill - for every 0.01 less than 0.75 power factor.

Answer the following:

(i) Determine the monthly (30 days) electricity bill of the factory where tariff E2 is employed (excluding the power factor surcharge).

(ii) Calculate the monthly power factor surcharge for the factory.

(ii) Calculate the total electricity bill for the factory.
