Question

Define Unit of Measurement.

Expert Solution
Step 1

There are many measurements, like temperature, mass, speed, time, distance, etc. Each of these has certain units associated with it. Measurements always involve as comparison. When we say that a person is six feet tall, we’re really saying that the person is six times taller than a reference object that is 1 foot in length, where foot is an example of a unit of measurement. Both the number and the unit are essential parts of the measurement.

Without any unit, the measurements alone are not significant; in other words, they are senseless. Therefore, units are written with the measurements.
