Question

Describe the Hershey-Chase Warring Blender Experiment?

Expert Solution
Step 1 Introduction:

The Hershey–Chase experiments were a-category of experiments conducted in 1952 by Alfred Hershey and Martha chase that helped to verify that DNA is that the genetic material.

Step 2 Concept:

The experiment began with the culturing of viruses in two sorts of mediums. One set of viruses (A) was cultured during a medium of radioactive phosphorus whereas another set (B) was cultured during a medium of radioactive sulfur. They observed that the primary set of viruses (A) consisted of radioactive DNA but not radioactive proteins. this is often because DNA may be a phosphorus-based compound while protein isn't. The latter set of viruses (B) consisted of radioactive protein but not radioactive DNA.

The host for infection was E.coli bacteria. The viruses were allowed to infect bacteria by removing the viral coats through a variety of blending and centrifugation.
