PREPAID, POSTPAID BOOST MAXIS
REVENUE AND EARNINGS
THE STAR Friday, 21 Jul 2017 by Ganeshwaran Kana
PETALING JAYA: Maxis Bhd says stronger prepaid and postpaid revenue contributions
boosted its earnings growth for the second quarter ended June 30. The group, in a filing with
Bursa Malaysia, said its service revenue, absolute earmings before interest, tax, depreciation
and base capital expenditure this year would remain at similar levels to 2016. "A solid base
of nearly 1.9 million MaxisONE customers with a monthly average revenue per user of
RM120 has led our postpaid revenue to grow by 2% to RM998mil from RM978mil a year
ago," it said. Net profit grew by 17.62% year-on-year (y-o-y) to RM574mil compared with
the same quarter a year ago. "Prepaid revenue grew 2.9% y-o-y to RM984mil from
RM956mil in the second quarter last year. This was due to Hotlink FAST, a service with
more than 1.8 million subscriptions, which has almost tripled from last year." said Maxis in
the statement.

Commenting on Maxis' year-to-date financial performance, chief executive officer Morten
Lundal expressed confidence in the fim's performance, which has also seen significant
improvement in customer satisfaction. "The second quarter was a quarter of so many
positives. We delivered strong financials with an all-time high customer satisfaction score to
top them off. "Our priority is to continue to deliver a great network experience and create an
unmatched customer experience across all channels. This will only get better with our
ambitions for full digitalisation and we are on track towards this," said Lundal.
