Here, the patient bends forward until their back is horizontal. The injured arm is hung vertically downward and is allowed to swing freely back and forth like a pendulum (see the figure). Treat the arm (length of 69 cm) in the figure as a physical pendulum – a uniform rod rotating about an axis through one of its ends – and calculate the period of the arm’s small oscillations.
