An organic liquid solution containing A (molecular weight 46) and B (molecular weight 78) form an azeotrope containing 52 % by weight A at 333 K and 101.3 kPa. Vapour pressures of A and B are 69.31 kPa and 68 kPa respectively. Determine the van Laar constants 

(HINT:A=0.9376  ,, B=3.0119)  

(2)  For a mixture of acetic acid and toluene containing 0.486 mole fraction toluene, the partial pressures of acetic acid and toluene are found to be 0.118 bar and 0.174 bar respectively at 343 K. The vapour pressures of pure components at this temperature are 0.269 bar and 0.181 bar for toluene and acetic acid respectively. The Henry’s law constant for acetic acid is 0.55 bar. Calculate the activity and activity coefficient for acetic acid  in the mixture based on 
(a) Lewis –Randall rule   

(Hint for  (a)  is 1.27 , 0.652 )
