• Polydentate ligand forms two or more coordination bond with metal ions to form a complex.

Example: EDTA

• Coordination number: The total number of ligands that forms bond with the metal atom.

Coordination number of [Pt(NH3)2(Cl)2] is 4

• Oxidation number of a central atom in a complex is defined as the charge it would carry if all the ligands are removed along wih the electron pairs that are shared with the central atom
Explanation

In the given compound K3[Co(NO2)6] the central metal atom cobalt was bonded with six NO2 ligands. Therefore the coordination number of the compound is 6.
