Question

A card is drawn at random from a deck of playing cards. What is the probability that it is a king or a red card?

Expert Solution
Step 1

Given: A card is drawn at random from a deck of playing cards.

Number of kings in a deck of cards=4 (2 Red, 2 Blue)

Number of red cards in a deck of cards=26

Since out of the 4 kings 2 of them are red and 2 of them are black so,

Favourable outcomes=Number of king or red cards=Number of king cards+Number of red cards-Number of red king cards=4+26-2=28

Total number of cards=52.
