Ryan DeLuna Independent Project 1. Frequency distribution of a variable and bar graph of the same variable A frequency distribution table is used for arranging data values and counting the number of time each value appears in a dataset. They can be used for both qualitative and quantitative variables. For this data pool I decided to use the subjects’ marital status because it is a qualitative, nominal level variable. (Polit, 23) Frequency table results for racethn: Count = 972 racethn Frequency
quantitative methods now well accepted in the social sciences and education. Differences between parametric and non parametric methods Parametric method Non parametric Assumes data comes from a type of probability distributions ( they are not distribution-free) Distribution free methods which do not rely on assumptions that the data are drawn from a
Ratings: Where as the Communities with Low Hazard Vulnerability have "Not High Rating". The Chi-Sq Distribution was used. From observation of Chi-Square Tests, there is slight Association between the Community Hazard Vulnerability Level, whether or "Not Hazard Rating". These Chi-Square Tests show some Association between the Community Hazard Vulnerability Level and the Local Hazard Mitigation Plans. The Chi-Sq Value of 5.53 is the actual statistics.
According to Keele (2011) the top 10 statistical methods of analysis consists of the following: mean, frequency distribution, standard deviation, range, percentages, T-test (independent and dependent), Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), correlation, Cronbach’s alpha, and Chi-Square (p. 54). I will be using the qualitative research method for my problem solving approach. Although I may not be using all of the top 10 statistical methods of analysis I can associate the methods with my Capstone Project
test for equality of the presented information in the one way method, and the two way mwthod allows for distinguishing if there may be another factor. * Chi-Square Distribution Use Two types of information can typically be generarted when variables have no pattern, categorical or numerical. Researchers’ employ using the chi-square distribution in order to unmask the distinctions and to see if they are independent. Categorical variables are specific variables with no fixed numerical value, and numerical
their data, they separated the students by ethnic backgrounds into males and female categories to see the different percentages of the number of students from each ethnic group that were admitted into med school. The test that I will be doing is a Chi-square test. The null hypothesis is that there is no preference of the colleges that students pick, they usually pick anything that they believe that they can get into. The alternative hypothesis is that there is a preference to the schools
When is it more appropriate to use the median as a measure of center rather than the mean? Why? 6. When do the mean and median have the same value? 7. Describe the relationship between variance and standard deviation. Chapter 5: Describing Distributions Numerically Stats: Modeling the World - Bock, Velleman, & DeVeaux Chapter 6: The Standard Deviation as a Ruler and the Normal Model Key Vocabulary: standard deviation standardized value rescaling z-score normal model parameter statistic
since Barons actually teaches you how to use this specific formula it makes it much easier to understand and was very helpful on the AP Exam. Another topic the Brase text did not cover very thoroughly was the Least Squares Line. Brase simply defines the line as, “The least-squares line devolved with x as the explanatory variable and y as the response variable can be used only to predict y values from specific x values. Baron 's on the other hand goes into detail in explaining how to find the line
