Wenderholm Field Trip Report Abstract Translocation of native birds to offshore islands has been a part of ecological restoration in New Zealand and has started since 1890’s. This translocation to mainland islands was started by the Department of Conservation in the year 1995. Wenderholm Regional Park has an area of 60 hectares maintained for ecological restoration. However, I feel that Ducks Unlimited is the better conservation group because they can maintain and manage the landscape of an ecosystem effectively, and they are a greater political force compared to Delta Waterfowl.
