My team and I have conducted a research study on food that is being given to students at a high school level. Many of the meals that high schools provide is unhealthy, but students are not aware of this since nutrition labels are not physically printed on the packages for the students to read and be informed of what they are consuming. It is important that students are able to have a slight glimpse on what they consume on a daily basis for them to have a balanced meal when they are eating in school
Food Label There are many things that are confusing and overwhelming when it comes to making nutritious choices. One product will have a high content of something good and another will have low content in something bad. When it is time to consider what we put in our bodies we have ample opportunity to weight the pros and cons of various products. According to the Nielsen Global Survey in 2011 sixty percent of the population doesn’t not understand the mandatory nutritional code in order to properly
Should reading the food labels be necessary before buying and consuming? During this paper, there will be some differences on two authors and their point of view on labeling. The first paragraph explains why Gary Hirshberg agrees that there needs to be labels on food and the importance of doing it. The second paragraph will state why John Davis is against it, and explains labeling is a bad for the people and for the economy. The demand for labels on food products became a growing interest in the 1960s when consumers became apprehensive about processed foods and were curious about the entirety of the products they were consuming. Prior to this time period meals were typically grown, prepared, and consumed within the household; therefore, there was little to no necessary need for foods to contain any type of labeling. However, after processed foods gained popularity, an increase in the consumption of such products resulted
A Dream for a World Without Food Labels In his essay My Dream Food Label, Mark Bittman makes the case that current food labels, while providing the consumer with ample information, do not indicate whether or not the food contained is “really beneficial”. Bittman argues that labels should additionally involve clear graphics, such as a “traffic light” indicating the “healthiness” of the food, as well as criteria such as hormones, antibiotics, pesticides, etc. These criteria would ideally also
Modern processed foods are packaged in ways that are designed to sell. With many people seeking healthy and nutritious food options, it makes sense that companies would want to portray their products as such. In the article “Front-of-Package Food Labels”, Marion Nestle and David S. Ludwig discuss why vague and unproven front-of-package labels should not be allowed on processed food packages. The article gave background information regarding how the start of front-of-package labels took place.

11 Sept. 2017 Labels in Society: Harmful or Helpful? If one were to think about a label, they might think of something you would find on a can of food or an item of clothing. Labels are to be used used to categorize inanimate objects, not humans. Humans are complex beings who are free to their own beliefs, ideas, and morals so it is nonsense to require categories to be forced in. Labels in society range from gender, sexuality, religion, and counting. In her article “Society’s Labels,’’ Audrey Arbogast
Thousands to millions of people are bustling around within this country in which we call America, the greatest country in the world; the towering architectural structures, the millions of economical exchanges being conducted, the numerous amounts of food, technology, material objects and comforts we grant ourselves in our homes, the thousands of grand priveleages of freedom, and liberty.
