    Abstract This paper reports the results of a pilot study of polybrominated flame retardents in household dust collected for a small sample of households in Plymouth. It finds significant levels of pentaBDE especially in bedrooms. The most likely cause is the continued use of pentaBDE within polyurethane foam in mattresses and other bedroom furniture, in spite of the ban by the European Court of Justice in 2004.
