The Sermon on the Mount is stated in the Gospel of Saint Matthew in Chapters 5-7 of the Bible. As mentioned in the Bible, when Jesus hiked the mountains and saw the clouds, He set up on a mountain top while His disciples surrounded him, and gave them his speech. The goal of this speech was for His disciples to spread His teachings within the sermon to the rest of the world. Today, this sermon is widely used as part of prayer around the world. Many churches, religious organizations, monuments, etc
Woodview Church of the Nazarene, we had the pleasure of hearing our senior pastor, Mark Walker, preach. Pastor Mark had been on sabbatical for most of August, all of September and the first part of October and has been back just a few weeks. This sermon was just the second he has preached since coming back from that sabbatical. Pastor Mark, preaching on All Saints Day, took the opportunity to preach a message on the importance of remembrance and anticipation. He choose the text of Revelation 21:1-8
Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s table. “Follow me,” he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.” He was a witness to the resurrection and the ascension of Jesus. A good example of this is the “Sermon on the Mount” in Matthew 5-7. Matthew has the largest sections dealing with Jesus’s teachings. In his book, Matthew constantly refers back to the Old Testament to focus on Jesus and how He is the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecy in order
The ideas of Jesus in the “Sermon on the Mount” happen to align with many beliefs deeply rooted into different attitudes adopted by several philosophers. However, the ideas embedded into “The Sermon on the Mount” appear to best correlate with the ideas of Epictetus- the creator of stoicism. The stoics believed that in order for a person to truly find happiness, they must accept life as it happens and not let their “being” become disturbed by upsetting events, as they are uncontrollable and are impossible
Sermon – 1Corinthians 10 By: Charmaine Warford Summer 2014 Do you ever wonder if what you about to do is right in the sight of God? Do you have questions that you seek answers to from God’s word? We all get in situations when there appears to be no clear answer to satisfy that what we are about to participate in is right. The truth is that oftentimes our life is built around things that aren’t wrong; they just don’t have any spiritual value. We should ask ourselves, “How does this help me grow
of art. The First Sermon (2ndc – 3rdc: Gandhara), which depicts Buddha delivering his first sermon, is no exception to this fact. The design and visual characteristics of The First Sermon serve as clear evidence that the work was created during the rule of the Kushan empire, specifically in Gandhara. Additionally, those same characteristics suggest that the piece was most likely used for adornment of a temple or other structure rather than for individual worship. The First Sermon shares many of the
A. I found the document titled, Tetzel’s sermon on preaching indulgence to be very interesting. It is slightly humorous how Tetzel used fear and salvation to sell indulgences. The notion that a person can buy God’s forgiveness for a sum of money is somewhat absurd. In this day and age, we speak of charity and giving. The amount of money that we give for charity is not weighed by its value more than it is measured by the impact it leaves on others and the genuine of our thoughts when giving charity
Montreal Wednesday sermon on salvation was delivered by pastor Jefferson taken from the scripture John 3:14-16. Salvation is a fundamental subject in Christian belief. It is in fact the truth that founded Christianity. However, many Christians do not know or correctly understand the true significance of salvation. As a result, most Christians like the ones in Quebec refuse to know the word of God and openly show hatred towards God and Christian religion. Why do they hate Christianity? Because they
Jesus delivers the beatitudes and reveals God’s teachings during the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus compares humans to salt and light, expressing their individual and culminating worth. He mentions he came to earth to fulfill prophecies, and tells his followers that if they follow his teachings, they will enter the kingdom of heaven. Jesus encourages peace amongst his followers, and asks them to accept the lawful punishment of sin. He says simply looking at a women with lustful intent is committing
preach, and no one comes close to Pastor Tim in the way he explains his messages. His sermons, inspired by God, is able to change the hardened of hearts.
