1.
According to Bickel and Jantz (2003), what is the main theme of the Bible?
The Bible is all about Jesus.
The Old Testament is an account of a Nation.
The New Testament is an account of a Man. The Nation was founded and nurtured by God to bring the Man into the world. His appearance on the earth is the central event of all history. The Old Testament sets the stage for it. The New Testament describes it. (Halley, 2014)
2.
How does this theme compare to your current view or understanding
of the Bible?
When I think of the Bible as a play with five separate “acts,” I can see how this could be a way to view the Bible. “In the great drama of human history, God has written Himself into the plot (Bickel & Jantz, 2003, p.61). Although I prefer to think of the Bible in a more revered way, I suppose this could help someone to look at the Bible as a drama with different acts,
and this could help the reader relate more easily.
