What is the disorder?
Kidney stones –
Kidney stones (also
called renal calculi,
nephrolithiasis, or
urolithiasis) are hard
deposits made of
minerals and salts
that form inside your

Prostate cancer –
Prostate cancer is
cancer that occurs in
the prostate. The
prostate is a small
walnut-shaped gland
in males that
produces the
seminal fluid that

transports sperm.

doeme-tree-O-sis) is
an often-painful
disorder in which
tissue like the tissue
that normally lines
the inside of your
uterus — the
endometrium —
grows outside your

What causes it?
Although a number
of variables may
raise your risk,
kidney stones
sometimes lack a
clear, identifiable
cause.
When your urine
contains more
crystal-forming
chemicals, such as
calcium, oxalate, and
uric acid, than the
fluid in your urine
can dilute, kidney
stones can develop.
Your urine may also
not include
chemicals that
prevent crystals from
sticking together,
creating an ideal
environment for
kidney stones to
form.
Doctors understand
that prostate cancer
begins when
prostate cells alter
their DNA, causing
them to grow and
divide faster than
typical cells. This
results in a tumor
that can spread and
invade nearby tissue.
