Module Two Question 1 Describe one of the beliefs and values of the Navajo as illustrated in your readings. The Navajo have leaders in a role that can be either man or women who lead the tribe. They act as spiritual leaders as well as medical healers. Module Two Question 2 Describe one way in which the Navajo have incorporated their beliefs and values into the societal structure on the reservation since regaining some autonomy in the 1970's. The practice of having courts that take a more "talking things out" approach to issues rather than handing down sentencing like other American's. Module Two Question 3 What beliefs and values can be found in your culture? How do these beliefs and values influence your day-to-day life? I grew up in central Pennsylvania, around the Amish, my grandfather was raised Mennonite. I was raised on a diet of hard work and constantly wanting to lend a helping hand. These beliefs lend to me having a hard work ethic, and a "last off the job" kind of attitude. Module Two Question 4 Adopt the social science perspective to create a list of questions about this issue. Write at least two questions each from the point of view of a psychologist, a sociologist, and an anthropologist. 1. What are some factors that are leading to depression in modern day American's? 2. Why are American's getting diagnosed more with depression? 3. What ages groups are getting diagnosed with depression most often? 4. Does the diagnoses of depression correlate to people communicating more these days? 5. Is depression diagnosed more often in current time, or are more people actually depressed? 6. Is depression on the rise due to any changes in current culture?
