Discussion 4.4
Mrs. Y, Having your daughter in my class this past year has been a pleasure. She has always been eager to learn and approached each task with such excitement. I have recently come to the understanding that you are
worried about your daughter education and that methods of teachings I use. In my experience, I have used many different methods of teaching the students a variety of lessons. The methods I utilize in our classroom prove to work based on the students flourishing accomplishments. In our classroom, we do break apart into smaller groups that I call peer tutoring. This allows the students to work alongside their peers to come up with more ideas collectively. The students enjoy the time they get to talk amongst their peers while also learning from one another. This past week, in our science class, we have been learning about the different parts of insects. I am pleased to tell you how excited your daughter was to be able to create an insect of her own. In order to create her own insect, I had the student use modeling clay. The strategy of hands on learning helps the children to really engage with the lessons. As a class, we modeled out all of the various body parts of the
insects. While doing this, we discussed each piece we were making and how the insect use it. My classroom environment is a safe space for all students to learn and work together. The use of peer tutoring and hands on exercises helps the students to engage and become excited for the school day. I hope this has answered any concerns. If you feel as though I have not answered your concerns for your daughter’s education, please feel free to call or email me. Thank you, Savannah Blackford Martin, L. (n.d.).
