The students at Paradise Canyon high school are unfortunately very unimpressed with the curriculum they have been learning for English language arts. Being that the students have to know the materials for testing and life purposes it is important to start building relevancy to the content and skills and I can do this by finding a way to link it to their personal life experiences and interest. Paradise Canyon High School is a very competitive and high-ranking in sports, knowing this information I believe that if I was to find grade level appropriate reading that feature, sports teams, biographies of sports players, or sport Fiction stories that may pique their interest. The best way to show growth using the current assessment data would be to take the scores from Friday and create a base level chart. I can also use assessment data from Friday to figure out where my students are struggling and create study plans that will help the students grasp the information they need. Using this chart, I will show students how to set tangible goals for where they want to be before state testing. Creating, tangible goals means that I am allowing the students to set goals they are comfortable with. As they see themselves improve this can help build their confidence level and for the students that struggle to still understand the information this will at least let me assess where they are so that I can provide them with additional intervention.
