For example, an air conditioning manufacturer would tend to associate itself with a cool color like blue. Choose a product logo and propose a color change. Explain how its message may change as a result. The normal Coca Cola color is red, which is a color that immediately draws attention, which is a very important thing if you want to sell a product. The color red is strong and powerful, and very stimulating. When it comes to selling a product, stimulating the brain is important for companies, so costumers are attracted to their products. The red in the Coca Cola logo in particular, it invites you to buy their drinks, perhaps you may think they make you feel energetic and good. If we were to change the color to green, for example, the message would be different. Green is a relaxing color, often found everywhere in nature. In contrast to red, we are used to seeing green everywhere, so it would not immediately grab our attention. However, because green is associated with nature and certain vegetables, it could send the message that the Coca Cola products are healthy and safe to consume. Green is refreshing, soothing and relates to wellbeing. A person could think that the Coca Cola drinks could provide those same feelings to them. 15 / 15 pts Question 2 Compare ancient Greek ideal human proportions with the art of the Yoruba. In your opinion, which culture uses proportions that are most descriptive of the human figure? Why?

The Yoruba people represented human figures with emphasis on social and spiritual beliefs, often exaggerating certain body parts to signify their cultural significance. Personally, I believe the Yoruba's approach provides a more realistic and diverse portrayal of the human figure. The ancient Greeks had a well-defined system of ideal human proportions they applied throughout their art. These proportions adhered strictly to a mathematical relationship called the Golden Ratio, where they compared specific body parts to others based on this ratio to establish the ideal human form. This approach often led to figures that were more idealistically perfect than realistically accurate. On the other hand, the Yoruba people of West Africa had a distinctly different approach. Their art did not adhere strictly to mathematical proportions but was instead more representative of social and spiritual beliefs. Their figures often had exaggerated body parts, such as the head, to denote significance within their culture. In my opinion, the Yoruba's approach is more descriptive of the human figure's inherent variety and uniqueness as it captures the diversity and individual's personal characteristics beyond mere physical proportions. 15 / 15 pts Question 3 Your Answer: In Caravaggio’s The Calling of St. Matthew , the artist used light and dark values to emphasize Christ’s hand. Why did the artist draw our attention to the hand? What other features in the work are emphasized with light and darkness?
