Report
March 26, 2023 Daniel Shoy Managing Director- Youth Development The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation 3223 Howell Mill Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30327 Dear Mr. Daniel Shoy, Communities in Fitzgerald/Ben Hill County are seeking support from the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation for Youth Development. Mrs. Becky Gay will be engaged in getting everything ready for the students and parents so that we can reach those students that need help so that they can get a good understanding of their schoolwork. We respectfully request 10,000 over a 2-year period so that we can get more computers and school supplies, which are integral to making this project a success.  Since CIS was "established in 1992" (CISFBH, 2023). They were known as one of the top afterschool programs in Ben Hill County, and since we have expanded our programs and initiatives to create more fun educational experiences for our local students. We have a strong history of providing students with the right resources, such as a safe place and the right technology for the ones that don’t get it at home, and the opportunity from the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation is deeply aligned with our vision of empowering our youth. Your youth development is targeted at the youth of today, which is what CIS is focused on. According to recent Census data, "Fitzgerald poverty rate by education is up at least 25% for students less than 9 th grade" (Censes, 2023). Which means most of those students don’t have enough resources once they leave school. Communities in School Fitzgerald/Ben Hill County’s vision is to "help students with support from the community, empower them to stay in school and achieve in life, and give them a healthy start to a healthy finish" (CISFBH, 2023). With the things CIS does for the students, such as helping them after school, providing them with a safe place, and giving them the support, they need, CIS has made a difference in the community. Which is why we’re hoping that by the end of the semester well see how much they've improved since they started CIS. The people in the community noticed how CIS is making a difference because more local companies are trying to get involved in the organization by making donations and offering their time to help. We get multiple donations from different local companies including food, clothes, school supplies donations etc. Your contribution of $10,000 will provide the funding we need to
be able to help more students by getting more computers and a bigger building, so they’ll be able to take on more students.  We so appreciate your time and consideration and look forward to exploring ways that our organizations can partner together. If you have any questions, or if you would like to schedule a tour of our organization, please contact me at mm44889@georgiasouthern.edu or call me at (229) 423-7933.
