How is it different than China, India, and Vietnam? Out of China, India, Vietnam, and Ukraine, Ukraine is the only country that has had a decrease in Foreign-born residents from 2000-2016. China, India, and Vietnam all had an increase from 2000-2016. This could be because from 2000-2016 Ukraine was dealing with political, economic, and social challenges and instability. b) How has the Ukrainian community in Philadelphia doing to support Ukraine? The Ukrainian community in Philadelphia has done multiple things to support Ukraine showing their solidarity and providing assistance during these challenging times. One significant thing that the Ukrainian community in Philadelphia has done is organizing fundraisers and charity events to raise money for aid to Ukraine. These fundraising activities don’t only provide financial aid, but also medical supplies, food, shelter, and other essential needs for those that need assistance. An example of this was shown in the Ukrainian Educational and Cultural Center where they hosted fundraisers to collect supplies to aid those in need (Fox 29 Philadelphia, 2022). Craft Hall also participated in this event where they collected funds to help financially aid Ukraine. Another activity that the Ukrainian community in Philadelphia has done to support Ukraine is actively raising awareness about the situation in Ukraine though demonstrations and showing their support for Ukraine through these demonstrations. An example of this is when immigrants from Ukraine organized a walk through Philadelphia to show their unity and support for the war going on in Ukraine (Baietto, 2023). Another example of this is another walk through Center City even a year after the war was first started to remind and raise awareness that the war is still going on (Sharber, 2023).
