Source 5: The Future of the Religious Right by Robert Wuthnow Published 1995 https://academic.oup.com/book/3836/chapter/145327765 Categories The first category I would organize by is whether the source takes an optimistic or pessimistic view on the growth and influence of the Christian Right in the future. Starting with my secondary sources, I found that the first, second, and third sources all adopt a pessimistic view on the growth of the Christian Right as they see the Christian Right losing power politically. My fourth secondary source goes against this and adopts a more optimistic view on the Christian Right and believes that they will continue to have political influence in the coming years due to their millions of loyal followers despite acknowledging many political failures in the past. My fifth secondary source adopts a pessimistic view as it sees the Christian RIght changing their methods which will cause them to become more decentralized and have less political power on a national level. Moving on to the primary sources, my first source cites statistics showing that the amount of religious coverage in US politics did not grow from the 2008 elections to the 2012 elections which could show a slowdown in the influence of the Christian Right. Source 2 also adopts a pessimistic view by showing statistics that there are less Christians aligning themselves with the republican party in the 2008 elections than the 2004 elections which may show that the Christian RIght is losing followers that feel aligned with the movement. Source 3 and 5 both share a pessimistic view for the same reason as they both highlight surveys showing that most people do not look upon the Christian Right movement favorably and in a positive light anymore. Finally, source 4 shares this pessimistic view by highlighting evidence that the mean age of those in the Christian Right is 56 which shows that they are not gaining new members for their cause, and is therefore declining. The second category I would organize my sources by is the time period they focus on. All my sources focus on The Christian Right in the 21st century but some are more specific than others. For example, most of my primary sources cite specific data that shows the popularity of the Christian Right in the 21st century and their political statistics. My secondary sources tend to be more broad by talking about the 21st century as a
