Melani Guerrero 27 September 2023 Cultural Value Reaction Family values represent the three cultures in different ways. An example is “In South Korea, family ties are based on biological continuity and ancestral worship. Mothers are seen as providing flesh and fathers the bones of their children. Family members are expected to be loyal, respectful, and obedient to their elders” (Asian Society, n.d.). Another example is In Greece, family is the most important unit and provides emotional and economic support to its members. Family members are very close and maintain frequent contact. Another example is “In Hispanic cultures, family is also a very important aspect of life and includes not only the nuclear family but also the extended family” (Nicole Canun, 2022). This shows that family values represent all three cultures, it shows that family is something that they value and is important to them and it shows that they have respect for their family’s values and beliefs. The process value represents the three cultures in different ways. An example is “Mexicans tend to value group activities, shared responsibility, and harmony among the group this is called collectivism” (CDC, n.d.). Another example is “Some of South Korea's process values are hard work, diligence, and productivity, which are seen as the keys to success and social contribution” (South Korea, 2023). Another example is “Greeks tend to value holistic education, advocating for nurturing of both the mind and body through wisdom and physical well-being” (Greeking me, 2015). This shows that the process values that represent the three cultures have different ways that represent their process values. The numbers value represents the three cultures in different ways. Hispanics value mathematics and have a scientific mindset an example of this is “In terms of mathematics, Mexico has a strong tradition of mathematical research and education. The Mexican Mathematical Society was founded in 1944 and has since played an important role in promoting mathematical research and education in Mexico” (Live Science, 2022). South Koreans value mathematics and have a scientific mindset an example is “South Korea is known for its excellent academic performance in mathematics and science” (Korea JoongAng Daily, 2020). Greeks value mathematics and have a scientific mindset an example is “The Greeks were mostly focused on geometry, hoping to explain shapes using numbers, which led to some significant discoveries that are still relevant to the mathematics we do today” (Library for Kids, n.d.). This shows that the numbers value those represent the three cultures, but it represents them in different ways and in their own unique way. One recommended change would be to be more open-minded, that way we can better understand people and have better communication with others.
