(**) In Chapter 2, we described order qualifiers as per- formance dimensions on which customers demand a minimum level of performance. Basically, if a supplier fails to meet the minimum requirements on any of the qualifiers, that supplier would be eliminated from contention. How would you incorporate the concept of order qualifiers into the weighted-point evaluation system?

International conference dealing with optical communications
Around 1000 delegates fromup to 40 countries
Four day programme including worshops, seminars, technical sessions, a welcome reception, a banquet and local tours
The process of booking for events varies considerably depending on the type of event and the target market. Online booking systems are a feature of certain types of events, especially in the organizational category , where large numbers of people in the target market have access to the Internet. The annual Europian Conference on Optical communication (ECOC) is an international event taking place in a different Europian country every year. The conference deals with optical communications and one of the organizing bodies is the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

Regression, activity-based costing, choosing cost drivers. Sleep Late, a large hotel chain, has been using activity-based costing to determine the cost of a night’s stay at their hotels. One of the activities, “Inspection,” occurs after a customer has checked out of a hotel room. Sleep Late inspects every 10th room and has been using “number of rooms inspected” as the cost driver for inspection costs. A significant component of inspection costs is the cost of the supplies used in each inspection.
Mary Adams, the chief inspector, is wondering whether inspection labor-hours might be a better cost driver for inspection costs. Mary gathers information for weekly inspection costs, rooms inspected, and inspection labor-hours as follows:

A product at the Jennings Company enjoyed reasonable sales volumes, but its contributions to profits were disappointing. Last year, 17,500 units were produced and sold. The selling price is $22 per unit, the variable cost is $18 per unit, and the fixed cost is $80,000.a. What is the break-even quantity for this product? Use both graphic and algebraic approaches to get your answer.b. If sales were not expected to increase, by how much would Jennings have to reduce their variable cost to break even?c. Jennings believes that a $1 reduction in price will increase sales by 50 percent. Is this enough for Jennings to break even? If not, by how much would sales have to increase?d. Jennings is considering ways to either stimulate sales volume or decrease variable cost. Management believes that either sales can be increased by 30 percent or that variable cost can be reduced to 85 percent of its current level. Which alternative leads to higher contributions to profits, assuming that each is…

STUDENT ADVISING DSS
From (Jessup and Valacich, 2003)
Good student advising for course selection is one way to help retain students. Student advising is a time consuming activity for faculty involved in the process and is particularly important for newly starting students. Also it is particularly difficult to schedule advising sessions for part-time students. A university developed and implemented a Web based system to help students select modules. The system is linked to the university-wide database of student records so that it can consider a list of all completed courses as well as student interests when making recommendations.
The DSS (Decision Support System) adviser makes course suggestions while considering degree requirements, prerequisites, availability, and student interests. The system knows when courses will be offered and can analyse the transcript of transfer students…

Design Within Reach (DWR)
Design Within Reach (DWR) is one of the leading hardwood furniture manufacturers. While DWR has many small competitors, none of them controls a
significant market share. Like most furniture manufacturers, DWR sells its products to a wide variety of small furniture stores, none of which represents a
large percentage of DWR's sales. DWR can choose among many wood (an undifferentiated commodity) suppliers to find the best price and delivery. The
growth rate of the hardwood furniture industry has slowed considerably in recent years. Many consumers purchase "IKEA type" furniture made of
composite wood, which is substantially less expensive than hardwood furniture.
The level of direct competition in the hardwood furniture industry can best be described as
moderate because the slowing growth rate offsets the numerous firms in the industry.
low because of the numerous firms in the industry and the slowing growth rate

PROBLEM-3) The Sales&Operations (S&OP) process is designed to produce a plan that all departmentswithin the organization, as well as suppliers to the organization, can work. The process is also sometimes referred toas sales, inventory, and operations planning (SIOP) to emphasize the important role that inventory can play as abuffer between sales planning and operations planning. The S&OP department of the XYZ company, that producesKLM products, estimates the sales over the next six years in thousands of packages will be as follows:
Assume that each worker stays on the job for at least one year and XYZ currently has eight workers. XYZ estimatesthat they will have 600000 packages on hand at the end of the current year. Assume that, on average, eachworker is paid TL 60000 per year and is responsible for producing 80000 packages. Inventory costs have beenestimated to be 20 KRS per package per year, and shortages are not allowed. XYZ estimates that it costs TL 2500for each…

Case Study-Jeep/BUSS 103/Fall 2019-20/DME/CCBA/DU
Short Case Study-Jeep
The original Jeep was introduced during World War II when the US Army was looking for
a fast, lightweight, all-terrain vehicle. We don't know for sure where the name came from
but we do know that Jeep véhicles were quickly recognized by soldiers and civilians alike
as the vehicle that could go anywhere and do anything.
The original Willys were the predecessors of today's lineup of Jeep vehicles. Today's Jeep
brand grew from a single product in 1946 (the CJ-2) to include the Wagoneer in the
1960's, which later evolved into the Cherokee in the 1980's. The CJs evolved into the
Wrangler in 1987. After 60 years of production, Jeep introduced the Liberty in 2002. All
of these vehicles had one thing in common: they were designed for off-road adventure.
Thus, they are "trail rated."
Reflected in pop-culture throughout several decades, the Jeep represents a unique
American “personality." Its exposure had its early…
