Another approach is to show empathy for the client based on their qualities and competencies. Empathetic confrontation is a method of resolving conflict in which the therapist understands the client's point of view and helps them see the dispute from a new angle. It is based on the premise that when people feel understood, they are more likely to modify their behavior. What does it mean to explore the story from multiple perspectives? Focusing on the interview with the client encourages the therapist to look at the story from different perspectives, which can help determine the underlying issue, such as a cultural or ethical issue. Looking at the story from multiple perspectives can help identify cultural or ethical issues that may be affecting the client. Give an example of ‘reframing’: Therapists can help individuals with chronic conditions recognize that they have both negative and positive aspects, and that they have a meter in their body that reminds them to take better care of themselves. Self-care is essential and it is acceptable to take time off. Share one way you can bring immediacy into the interview process. We could try being warm and inviting while communicating by being understanding, using pronouns, and bringing the client to the here and now phase of interview. How can you use one of the above concepts to move a client into action? Providing clients with new skill sets to help them consider the logical consequences of their actions and thoughts.
