1 Data Activity 1: Synthesis Reaction Data Table 1 Activity Observations and Data Synthesis reaction The steel wool started out at 20 degrees Celsius. 5 minutes: 26 degrees Celsius 10 minutes: 25 degrees Celsius When the steel wool was combined with vinegar it was burnt appearing/ rusty as if it had been sitting for an extended amount of time. Decompositio n reaction When the yeast was combined with hydrogen peroxide, it reacted instantly with diffuse amounts of bubbles that rose to the top. When combining the splint, I predict it will form a huge reaction with increased bubbling. In the end, when they were combined the splints, both glowing and flaming, they were just extinguished, Single- replacement reaction Magnesium produced gas bubbles to begin. When combined with the splint for the experiment it was extinguished as well. Hydrogen gas filled the tube. Double- replacement reaction The solution fizzed for about 2 minutes then slowly settled out. A portion of baking soda remained in the bottom of my tube. Carbon dioxide gas was formed Combustion reaction The flames were extinguished immediately when the gases were combined. Precipitation reaction There was precipitate on the sides of my test tube. © 2016 Carolina Biological Supply Company
