Week Seven Homework
I have reviewed the textbook's list of possible problem situations for group therapy. The three situations I feel less equipped in are dealing with silence, asking a member to leave, and dealing with prejudiced, narrow-minded, or insensitive members. Two problem situations I am confident
of dealing with are negative and mutually hostile members. I am confident in handling a negative member using empathy, clear communication, positive reinforcement, setting boundaries, and providing resources if needed. First and foremost, I will address the situation with delicacy and understanding that the member may be struggling with personal problems. Using empathy allows me to let the member know I am listening, and his feelings are heard and valid. I can recognize and announce the positive factors that the member contributes to the group and discuss skills and techniques that members can learn to change negative self-talk into positive self-talk while also implementing positive reinforcement. Additionally, I can communicate clearly and effectively with the members to help them understand how their negativity affects the group. I allow group members to share their feedback
and resolve the issues calmly and effectively. I also need to review the boundaries and set new ones if required. These boundaries will include what behavior is acceptable. Finally, I can provide further resources to the members and recommend additional support, including individual counseling sessions. I am also confident in dealing with members who are hostile to each other because of my extensive training in working with inmates in a prison facility. Understanding and identifying the
root cause of the issue between the members will be the first step in handling hostile members. I will remind the members of the boundaries and expectations discussed during their first meeting.
Additionally, I can set time aside in my schedule to allow the members to discuss their concerns privately, so it does not disrupt the group's session or its members. I will work with the members

Bucks McGee, after being poisoned, is currently being treated in the hospital with an
antidote- the chemical Fe(CN)18. The compound is so intensely coloured that even a small
amount of it makes for a black or dark blue suspension.
2022-02-0.
Given that this antidote has never before been administered at the hospital, none of the
doctors or nurses have experience with it. There is one very old bottle of Fe>(CN)18 pills in
the medicine store-room, but the label is worn and the units are in the old, archaic British
