AP Chemistry | 4.9 Assignment: Redox Titration and Stoichiometry FRQ Directions: Read the question prompt and answer the questions below. 1. Write your answer for 2018 FRQ Question 3: Parts a-f a. [Ar] 3d6 b. The radius of Fe2+ ion is larger than the radius of Fe3+ ion because there are a greater amount of electrons in the shell of Fe2+, which leads to more repulsion and hence why there is a larger radius. c. Since Fe3+ is smaller, it will get closer to water than Fe2+ because there is more of a charge between the two which would lessen the distance d. Fe2+(aq) = Fe3+(aq) + e- e. 17.45 x .0350/1000 = .000612 moles of KMnO4 .000612 x 5/1 = .003059 moles of Fe2+ divide the moles by the volume in liters .003059/.0100 = .306 M of Fe2+ f. The flask is meant to only contain 25 ml on the dot, with nothing under or over. Once you have written your answers. Open the Samples and Commentary link and review the correct answers, sample student answers, and scoring commentary. These are usually organized with the first student sample (Sample 1) earning full points and then 1-2 point deductions for the subsequent samples (Samples 2 and 3). Be sure to look for multiple pages 2. What score did you give for your answers? Report this out of the total number of points possible. 6/6 3. If you have a perfect score, summarize one key concept from this unit which led to the perfect score. (1-3 sentences). If you did not have a perfect score, summarize one key concept from this unit which would have helped you achieve a perfect score. (1-3 sentences). R evised 6/2/ 2021 Page 1
One key concept from this unit which led me to get the perfect score would be Titration since there were a few questions asking to find the equivalence point of titration. 4. Write your answer for 2019 FRQ Question 3: Parts a-e a. Ca2+(aq) + co3-2(aq) = CacC03(s) b. The drawing would include a Ca2+ ion c. .93/100.1 = .0093 moles of CaCO3 d. I would disagree because since water would cause the mass of the precipitate to be greater than CaCO3, the calculated moles would be greater than the actual moles, so the concentration of Na2CO3 would be too high. e. The liquid would be conductive because of the Na, Ca and No3 ions being able aqueous and in the solution. Once you have written your answers. Open the Samples and Commentary link and review the correct answers, sample student answers, and scoring commentary. These are usually organized with the first student sample (Sample 1) earning full points and then 1-2 point deductions for the subsequent samples (Samples 2 and 3). Be sure to look for multiple pages 5. What score did you give for your answers? Report this out of the total number of points possible. 5/5 6. If you have a perfect score, summarize one key concept from this unit which led to the perfect score. (1-3 sentences). If you did not have a perfect score, summarize one key concept from this unit which would have helped you achieve a perfect score. (1-3 sentences). I think one key concept from this unit that led me getting the perfect score would be types of chemical reactions because with two of the questions, it asked what would occur in a solution given ions, which would be under chemical reactions.
