2 2-1 Journal: Relational Maintenance Habits Monitoring My Communications Involving Technology In this exercise I had the opportunity to analyze my relational maintenance habits. I chose my spouse who was out of town at the moment to analyzed 48 hours of communication using our regular communication technology methods including text messages and phone calls interactions. Then after 24 hours using a different form of communication. Allow me to share the results. For the first 48 hours, our communication was primarily focused on discussing day-to- day activities, sharing personal updates, and expressing our feelings and concerns. We have utilized text messages and phone calls to maintain a sense of connection and closeness, despite our physical distance. The relational maintenance strategy we used each time you communicated was positivity, assurance, openness and sharing tasks. This allowed us to continue to strengthen our relationship, even in the face of physical separation. To create an emotional connection, we used humor and lighthearted conversations. In order to ensure our conversations ended on a positive note, we reminded each other how much we valued each other. I noticed that I rely on text messaging more than any other communication technology. Text messaging provides us with an easy way to stay connected and express our feelings and emotions. It was quick, convenient, and easy to send and receive messages, which made it the most effective platform for maintaining a strong emotional connection. The informality of text messaging allowed us to joke and laugh with each other, which allowed us to create a deeper understanding of each other's thoughts and feelings. I feel that based on our current because my spouse is out of town we use communication technology to maintain this relationship, specifically our phone. We use texting, video calls, and emails to stay connected to 2
