How have course discussions and materials been integrated in your practicum experience this week (provide two specific examples):
I have incorporated practice seminar discussions and materials into this practicum by gaining a deeper understanding of how important the social learning theory is to work with a client. I also worked with one client to complete a worksheet called Social Problem Solving. I instructed clients to practice their social reasoning during sessions. I informed my clients that these skills build confidence and increase the likelihood that they will access these solutions under pressure. This week in the group I included modeling and practical activities with interactive audio-visual aids, such as podcasts and videos. I wanted to help my clients get multiple perspectives to develop their social intelligence. This week the client watched the video entitled An introvert’s guide to social freedom – Kaspars Breidaks. This TEDx talk focuses on providing guidelines for self-identified introverts. In this video, Breidaks frames introversion as an opportunity, rather than a weakness. The clients really liked this video, and some asked me where they could locate the video In each session with clients pay attention to every interaction I always pay attention: Observers pay attention to the behavior they are witnessing.
