Social movements in history have been used to push forward a goal or agenda with each differentiating based on the goal of said movement along with methods of achieving their goal.
Most movements are built up of different means of persuasion to convince like-minded individuals who sympathize with the meaning of the social movement to join, and these theories of persuasion will be discussed in detailed manner following the next section of the paper. Other means of influence to reinforce include the use of music with a variety of social movements in history having songs dedicated to them or their goal. Examples of this include “Strange Fruit by Billie Holiday” to advocate sympathy for the Civil Rights Movement or “Fortunate Son by John Fogerty” to raise awareness for the anti-war movement in America during the Vietnam war. The musical influence of these social movements will also be discussed in this analysis.
