Technology in the classroom has become a regular practice. In my classroom we use technology daily. We use technology for many different things in my class.
1.
For our daily announcements my students have begun recording a news cast using iPads, cameras, and microphones. This started as an ELAR lesson that has now evolved to them recording a weekly new story that includes lunch menu, events, pledges and anything else
admin or other teachers would like to put out to the students.
2.
Testing, all of testing has transitioned to online platforms. This part has made it easier for me as teacher to take the load off having to grade. Other than grading things like essays or responses everything else is done for me. Students prefer the online platform because they can save notes and use their online resources to help with quizzes and such.
3.
In science we use technology for labs and tracking data during investigations. Students can record, take pictures, and keep track of their data.
4.
Technology in science also helps with on hands investigations that cannot be done in the classroom or to have them practice before they work with the actual items. This past week students had to build circuits online and not catch the light bulb on fire. Once they successfully complete this task then they move onto building a circuit with the actual items. 5.
Technology has helped with science because I am able to expose them to things I cannot in the classroom. When we study space, I can bring up NASA and we can see pictures of space. We can go under water and see the sea life we see.
To help students develop their metacognitive skills, you can combine learning snapshots with opportunities for their self-reflection. (Robinson, 2022) Students
can use technology for so many things. Classrooms went from using technology on occasion then to 100%. It became a permeant fixture. Being 1:1 with devices helps with this because student can become familiar and are able to adapt their device for
their needs. A big way I have seen technology work wonders is with my special education students. I have my student’s using technology for so many y things. Materials could support teachers while teaching self-care skills, social skills, and cognitive concepts. (Cagiltay, Cakir, Karasu, Islim, Cicek, 2019) My special educations students have been able to keep up with many of their peers because of technology.
Their accommodations are easier to provide because if the student needs something
read to them and as the teacher, I am working with another student they are able to click a bottom and it will be read. They are able to use the speech to text feature to
complete their writing assignment. Reference:
